I agree. I've watched north play a couple of times and they didn't seem like the ones to start the fight. They look out for each other, which i believe is a big reason for their current form at the moment. I've looked at north's team statistics and Alex Perry and Shane Bates have got in norths best 4 or 5 times, as Luke Parker most likely would if he had played the majority of this season in 18's. None the less i think the best on ground doesnt mean anything, north are a strong team all round and most weeks there should be 'team effort' in the paper.

i dont mind north talkin themselfs up there clearly the best side.. but dont wreak the thread by being like werribee last year

Scott from corio is very stiff to miss out. and muir plays up forward. Also number 53 from east is good player but wouldnt know where youd fit him in

i said fill in the blanks mate.. if u think they should b in there putt them inn....!!!

this side looks to have alot of north geelong players...
butt i spose they are the benchmark and geelong had 9 players in the all australian so thats not a problem i guess!!
as for scott very lazy footballer.. could b good if he wanted to b but just does enough for his side.... not a standout like the rest of the players in the team!!!

Wegner and McFarlane aren't deserving of the team of the year. They are both players from 2nd division GFL sides. Tielsen is far too over rated. These players have earnt their reputation this year from playing against a bunch of the lower tiered sides and when it comes to the crunch against any higher sides this year they won't show. Believe me. They aren't terrible players. Just not team of the year material. Clearly too early to tell.

relevant u seem to know abit about the higher sides on the ladder.... how about u hav a crack at putting a few into a team of the year on form at this stage!!

If his a very very dirty player why is he named norths captain then.. he can lead a side and can stick up for his mates.. didnt see any banno boys stickin up for there mates that day.. to busy running there trap on big footy but wen they played them the next time they didnt go any where nere him.. wat is that sayin bfc101
as if this isnt JAYKE SHORT as if u do come on here and talk about urself, and dont try denie it coz u were tellin 1 of my mates u just made 1, and u come straight on and stick up 4 urself, ur not even good mate, its got me done how u got captain!!!!

McFarlane was the starting ruck and Wegner was starting back pocket in the Thomson Seniors team who beat Corio last week. Kidding yourself if they aren't in the U18 mid-season team. They have both played a handful of Senior games this seson.

So unless you can state a claim for a better u18 ruck and a back pocket player, keep your stupid opinions to yourself.

not having a crack or anything mate,
but mcfarlane has shown that he could play well against the higher sides, cos hes done it playing senior football this year.
wegsy has also played well in his couple of games,
so i think these 2 blokes could be more than competitive against the higher ranked sides.

well people from every club should nominated who they think should get a position in the team on here and that will help every one to put one 2gether with out missing ppl and ppl crackin it haha

Devan Ellis and Dave Gamble are definitly worthy. As well as Steely. The trick to putting a side of the year together is to have a team selected that would work well together. We are talking attributes. Speed being the key beneficiary. In saying that, I haven't seen all the sides play yet, nearly but not quite. Once i have then i will be sure to put up a side. For instance. You wouldnt play a side with a big slow center half forward that may be good overhead but all his pockets and midfielders are quick.

Still too early. I will have a crack in a few more weeks dougy08. i promise :p

PS: PCD citizen. You are clearly a bias Thomson player or follower who doesnt look into this enough. Just because he starts as a ruck in seniors doesnt mean he is a freak. Just shows he can jump high. The ruck contest isn't all a ruckman should be used for. They need to be able to be a good tall option in the center and still be able to move well. This is what has worked for Werribee, Banno and North over recent years. They have players that can ruck and still run and move quite well for taller blokes. I'm not paying out on them. Just saying that they arent suited to the team of the year that should be selected.

So are you picking a team of the best players or the best team?
Clearly the mid-season best team would incorporate all the players from the team on top of the ladder but the team of best players would consist of the best players incorporated into one team.

I'm not a bias follower or player of the Thomson team, I just seen them play on dvd against North Geelong. Now I don't watch much U18 football admittedly but I know the way Wegner, McFarlane, Braydee Watts and Shaun Kingwell played in that match that if they weren't in the team of the year to date for the U18's then that team has zero credibility.

As for the points you made concerning McFarlane. If he wasn't able to move well or be a good tall option I'm sure Thomson wouldn't pick him in their senior side.
