Rumour has it that he signed on a 2 year deal for not much coin at all. My understanding is he wannted a challenge and it looks like he has got one. Also I heard Winch has some major recruits on the go.
Have heard they are losing a few too ,nth geelong chasing a couple off there talls and a couple moving interstate/ overseas,as for there coach only played 7 games this year due to injury and i believe this has been the case for the past few years he just cant get on the park.

come on sevenup 1 guy is going overseas and 1 guy going interstate and there is not that many talls at winch that the flopp will b after. the new coach cant be any worse than scott mills he will b bring some quality players with him. he will b good 4 the club. i heard a few will b going back cause mills is not coaching.

nah, he's definately playing. He told me at 'the dog' last night. Didn't he play at Bacchus Marsh last year? I'm sure he did. Anyone know when preseason starts for each club? Any big movements? I hear Centrals new coach Leech is bringing a dozen players from hoppers crossing with him. They should be strong next year.
From what I understand he has been non-playing assistant coach under Dion Miles at the Marsh for the last two seasons. Before that he was at Werribee Centrals for a year where he didn't pull on a boot. Maybe it was a plan of his to have a few years off to get the knee right.
Not quite sure who Leetch is bringing with him but the rumour is the guys from Hoppers he is bringing with him were all seconds players.

2nds players at hoppers would be good solid performers at centrals. they wont dominate but they will bolster the side really well. is keenan reynolds going to help leetch too? if so that would be a bloody gr8 signing for the club. He's that fit that he'd still kick a few coming out of the square.

There are players at Hoppers in the 2nds that could play senior footy at alot of other WRFL clubs. Iordanis and Foster are good mates with Leech and they have been good solid senior players over the years. They are 2 players who would make a huge difference.

Chugg is definitely playing at Centrals in 2009. Rumours are also rife that Roland Beck and Heath Buck are also coming out of retirement.

So they are going from a young up and coming side, who troubled a couple of the better teams, to a "dad's army". Good forward planning. Would love to be one of the "all conquering" U18's coming into seniors, NOT!

Somehow I think he may have been taking the piss. :D

I don't think Heath was going to make a come back. Has commitments to the radio. However from what heard that Roland is coming back in a support role for the 2's. We have too many kids coming though our system to give Roland many playing opportunities.....

might be trying to get a nice mix of old and young players.
and im sure that the younger players will greatly benifit from the experience some of these guys can pass on to them..
but you might be right some of the 18's players coming up might struggle to break through into the senior team.
any one no of any names comin up that they think will break through.
i am sure that there are a few 18's players on bigfooty from readin the 18's thread.

I think you will find Chugg is only about 27/28 so I would hardly call that dad's army. Not quite sure on the age of the others but certain they would be capable of still holding their own at the level. If the young players are good enough and their form is better then they will be givin every opportunity to play senior football. By the sounds of it Werribee has some great young players but lacked good experienced players this year.

I've always rated chuggy as a player. :thumbsu: Will be really handy with the influx of some experienced players. Foster and iordanis if they play will definately boost their line up. Don't know how the youngsters will go when the going gets tough. They might need a year to settle into senior footy. Or maybe not!

What is it with you and your dislike for older players????? Dad's Army.....this line gets marched out every silly season and its ridiculous. For quality young players to continue there development in senior football they need experienced good footballers for leadership and direction. What good is it for a young team to get beaten week in week out by 15 goals, have bad habits creep in to there game and then for them to leave for a successful side. For gods sake its the GDFL not the AFL and guys in there late 30's have a place as long as theyre playing good football, not going to or staying for the wrong reason ($) and most importantly the young players arent missing out on a game.

At the start of the season Thomson and Bannockburn were referred to as 'Dads Armys' yet one team won the flag and the other finished third. Those teams now have young players like Curtis, the McLeod brothers, Pidhaini, the Perkins brothers who have senior finals experience and the benefit of having learnt on field from Gardiner, Menzies, Vardy, Kollegger, Fisher and Bliss.

Werribee have some quality U/18s coming through but they need some quality seniors around them. The club has invested a lot into there juniors and are trying to rebuild with them....... they will not recruit senior players to the detrement of these young guys but to benefit them and the club.

Has there been any signing of new players around the traps. I heard drake from newcombe has signed at bannoc they made him a huge offer that he couldnt refuse. But i havent heard much more than whats been written on here.

I don't have a dislike for older players, given they still perform.

I thought the way Thomson used Gardiner in the granny was very well done, it along with Anderton fwd was game defining.

Werribee have moved on from these blokes, and played well, at home against some very good teams. They require a couple of senior key position players to straighten them up. Not revert back to old players, returning after time out of the game, and in their mid 30's.

I don't have a problem if they return, play in the 2's, and help develop the youngsters coming through the system.

The man they call nugget is no longer going overseas as he is pumped for a big pre-season at Winch with the new coach signing.
The guy gone interstate has been offered big dollars to fly back every weekend to play and has committed for another year.
Fopiani was seen talking to ex-winchelsea coach Scott Mills during the week and it is rumoured they have offered him a co-coaching job because of his ability to develop the younger players. Huge dollars apparently.
Dane Maxwell is the big tall fopiani is after, im sure he will stay at winch with his mates.

which drake is that, jason?

Yeah it is kid he's gone there as an assistant coach. Corio also chased him hard for an assistant coaching position but the reason he went to Bannockburn was because he's moving out that way to live and not a huge offer he couldnt refuse. There's a rumour going around that Jed Potter is considering going to either Anakie or North Geelong. Anyone able to confirm or deny? Will Antonello go to Winch with Smith as they were at Bacchus Marsh together this year and I assume would have been at Werribee together before that?

Any news from Devil land Buddah?

the only two players that havnt re-signed are hinch and nolan, hinch has had a knee reco so wont be playing next year and nolan is moving to qld in jan, I know they have spoke to about 7 or 8 new players and they are confident of getting 5 or 6 of them, they will have answers from all players next week so i will keep you posted when i find out. Devils will know more about whats going on there i get my info from a mates son who is a reserves player there. They have signed Jason Stolk as assistant coach for the reserves.

John Antonello. That would give Winch at least some fire power to start with. All they need to do now is get the ball down to him and they might get off the bottom of the ladder. Rumour has it they may be signing 3-4 good players very soon. Why wouldn't you go there. Apparentlytheir netballers are the best in the league. Any truth to that??
