How are the grounds holding up in the geelong region?

is there talk of the league doing what they did last year with the fixture. some teams playing their first 5 games at home and last 5 games away to try and work around the availability of grounds because of the draught??

I just posted a simular thing on the other Geelong league thread.

I think most grounds are ok. Most have had water tanks put in and Barwon Water gave an exemption to a lot of grounds to be watered so i think that should ensure the season starts on time. A few grounds have also been re sown with drought tolerant grass which will have long term benefits.

your cant fool us, you played in the losing gf side.;)
your previous comments on this forum with whom you played with and your infinate relationship within your club and league is a dead give away!
Not trying to fool anyone nor have I denied any link to East as they are the club I support in this region. Would have liked to play in the GF but as stated too old and soft and gave it away a while ago.

talking to some locals mate said they lost him. aitken will be good alongside tarr,n.lewis,s.lewis and grgic, could see an unstoppable foward line at panther land this year with them blokes

couldnt see nathan or shaun playing up forward much, as there best footy is in the midfield. resting up forward maybe for a short spell but not fultime. so that will leave a forward line full of pace with aitken, grgic and big tarr. tarr could be the quickest of the 3 over 10m:D. wheres whiskers playing, falcons?

i think this year bph will definantly have a few of options in the midfield which could see nathan and shaun both having fair amount of game time in the forward line i would presume . and hopefully keep the engine room fresher for the last quarter than many other teams. will be very interesting

i thought that the finals last year were the last to be held there, what i can gather it was a 10yr lease and then returns back to a gdfl club. heard last season that bph had put in for it and were a chance of gaining it. got the facilties there but its still WINDY HILL and knowone wants to watch a finals series when it blows a gale, it would be a shit standard otherwise.

Still like the idea of a neutral venue for finals...most leagues in the north of the state share the finals around...but make sure the senior game doesn't feature the club whose ground it is on...and then use a showpiece venue for the GF.

A redeveloped Red West would be good for the GDFL decider like the old days...

spot on mate. good ground good facilities. and further more blue west will be using the ground this year but they wont be in contention of playing finals so there is no home ground advantage.

yeh maybe good ground and all but in terms of getting the most people at the finals possible its no good. You cant tell me that a ground such as bph would hold less people then red west, people wanna drive their cars in and watch footy and not have to squish in.

Who gives a F*** about the supporters.. the players are the ones who are good enough to be playing finals footy, and to play it on a dung-heap out in the bronx of BELL POST HILL would be a disgrace.

Quality teams deserve to play on quality grounds

Nathan Reid has put in a clearance from Winch to Ammos. A massive loss for a team that is rumoured to be facing a number of departures.

yep do agree finals should be back at west, if they decide to give it to bph this year the league would have no choice but to rotate between all clubs every year, cause the other clubs wouldnt stand for it being at bph every year.
The devils are 2 weeks into pre season after xmas break and had 39 at training last night, all reports are the coaches could not be happier with numbers so far for training this year, something like 60 different faces so far this year.

what a ridiculous comment !!!

Nothing better than having big crowds at finals games.

I knew i'd cop it after that comment and fair enough.. but the point i was making was that the spectacle would be much better at a quality ground and being at a quality ground would ensure the high crowd attendance that finals deserve.

didnt miss a trick though did you kooley

The GDFL would be crazy not to sign on at st.albans for another ten years of finals footy!! Great big ground close to their home base(Buckleys) and you can get supporters around the whole perimeter. No better place for finals.

St Albans is a good ground for finals but i think West Oval is better IMO. Better ground for viewing i think. But the big ground at St Albans is good as West is a bit smaller.
