It's amazing all the crap on this post. Firstly who has said the GDFL wont play finals at Saint Albans next year? They can walk away when ever they like. It's a good ground and has no home ground advantage. The deal is as long as GDFL and Saint Albans are happy it will stay there. No deal has been done for next year. Lion King you no nothing switch the lights on mate. Secondly if the league did change grounds you would play on the best ground available and lets be frank Hill is the best in the GDFL by a mile.

Kidding yourself mailboy.. .werribee's Galvin Park is far and away the best ground in this league, guarantee you of that

Might be the best ground but after experiencing the "new clubrooms" I wonder why they bothered. The visitors rooms are the smallest in the league. With all the money they got from Vicroads they could have added a couple of metres and made them a decent size.

Red west should be the finals venue nuetral for all particpants (cant see Blue West making it before they merge with Red West) central, good viewing and good facilities ticks all the boxes for mine except that the league miss out on the extra revenue from people havinga few before and after games at Buckleys.

looks like belmont lions might be the real deal. two wins in a row against quality opposition will ensure they at least play finals this year.

Yeah you could be right Kooley i was just thinking that myself after just reading the addy. Maybe the 5 is settleted but is just a matter of what positions they all finish, it will be a very close finals series i think and on there day anyone can win it. Anyone has any thoughts who might win it???

As the saying goes "One swallow doesn't make a summer". So Belmont defeated an understrength Corio. They will probably follow this up by beating Inverleigh. Lets see where they are at after rnd 7.
How old is Haami? 3 years is a long time for a bloke of his vintage isn't it?
Does this post look a little silly in hindsight? Like a classic red, Haami is getting better with age.. On another subject, a big well done to "Butch" Horribin, who played on Strobba on the weekend. 2 big fellas playing on each other was worth giving Cog's 5 bucks admittance money to see. :thumbsu:

this will be the most evenly contested gdfl finals series in the past decade. i still reckon the winner will come from either thomson, east or bannockburn. i don't know whether the lions have the ammunition to trouble these teams at st.albans come finals time, however with williams at the helm anything is possible. bph are the wildcard. they are up and down like a hookers g-string, but are capable of beating anyone on their day. discipline appears to be their major flaw.

I will stick by my comment that 3 years is still a long time given his age particularly if was appointed as a playing coach, although it seems he got a hold of the East defence on Saturday.

On the point about Belmont themselves I stated I would reserve judgement until round 7 and at 5 and 2 they are right amongst it even more so given they only play 2 of the sides above them for the rest of the year.

i still think they will get found out at st.albans.

if your talking about grounds we played at corio a coulple off weeks ago and its by far the best ground, do agree facilities are pritty ordinary though, the hill is a shit hole blows its arse off no protectition from wind at all. If a gdfl team gets to have the grand final at there ground the gdfl would have to rotate between each club to make it even fot everyone and they wont do that.

we played there a couple of weeks ago and talking to a few of the boys after the game in the bar, they are more than happy with whats been going on off-field. The guys that have been around for a few years recon its never been so good of the field at the club and i stayed till about ten and i enjoyed myself. They were winging about injuries so they say the recon theve got about 20 injuries at the moment through seniors and reserves, dont no how true that is but that would put a downer arouund any club

heard this morning on K-Rock that the GDFL is weighing up between St.Albans and Red West for this year's finals...and that they won't be at Bell Post Hill.

A decision's expected next week.

this year or next?

i thought they already had one more year left on their contract at st.albans.

Hi guys,

Any truth to the rumor that Nathan Panozzo (St Joeys) has been signed to play for Thomson. If so, i reckon this would add strength to an already tough team.

If he has signed he hasn't played yet, there was a rumour at the start of the year that he was playing somewhere in the GDFL.

Got a clearance a couple of weeks ago but has yet to play. Dont know if he has been training or not.

What ever happened to Jenkinson and Royce Vardy who were also expected to pull on the boots for Thomson?
Jenkison still overseas apparently and Vardys body is not up to playing im lead to believe. Thomson would be more concerned with the shock loss out at Anakie, they will cause alot of upsets out there for the remainder of the season the Roos. Panozzo also has dodgy knees and may struggle to be at his best.

Went out to watch the Winch and Corio on the weekend, what a cracking game. Ithink the devils are on there way back. This week against the Hill will be the game that will prove where they are really at. They had some of there key players back Saturday Aitken kicked 7 O'Toole dominant and Clifford pulling down 20 marks, if they stay fit they could make the finals. For Winch Reid was best on ground in a fine display. Interesting Corio coach Bissett was stripped to play but did not take the field? Would you not just play a kid instead!

I think whoever finishes on top should play the finals at home. There is no benefit in finishing 2nd than there is 3rd. 2nd should play 3rd at home. as 4th and 5th And at the end of the day as long as the atmosphere and the ground is in good condition is (no atmosphere) at St Albans and Skilled who cares about fascilities they are only for all the league tag alongs. Never understand why the league play finals at a GFL club DUMB
