Why are these posters allowed on the main board? Fair enough if GC26 started the thread but this is a serious question.

People can predict a hangover but could not be surprised if it didn't happen.

No one is even close to us. Eagles are shot dont even compare their replacements to the likes of Judd and Cousins, hawks beat us yes but are not that good, hell even the dogs and roos managed it back then, they have an exceptionally long way 2 go judging on the finals. We smashed the roos and port when it mattered and hawks cant even beat them. We play our worst games against the pies, while the pies could NOT have played any better. Umpiring in the prelim was a joke yet we still won.

Our % was about 160, we just smash sides where it matters. Why are people complaining we dont have much competition and it was easy for us? Why dont these non competitive sides do something about this? Not our fault the rest of the competition are hacks. We are way in front in terms of talent. Anyone who at this stage does not think we can win in 08 is either delusional or hopeful.

9 AA is about right. Gimme a break with these conspiracies about how they want us all in. We are THAT much better than any other team. Only one side challenged us...... COLLINGWOOD but we had a bad night they had a fantastic game yet they still lost. Its like Philippousis gettin close to Federer in a final and we all congratulate the poor retarted kid 4 the fantastic effort against the on field giant. One hit wonder that we know wouldnt do it again. Next time is the usual spanking we hand out everyone else.

FWIW I believe that we may become better, but the competition will now catch up, as it always does.

Also coming back into the team Matty Egan (missed whole final series) and Tom Hawkins to replace Nath Ablett. Marked improvement just there if you ask me....

Last time they were any good their best midfielder warmed up with raw steak, the full forward warmed up with 8 pies & the full back lived in a different state...
For anyone to say that any one year was a soft year etc... can't see that. Were Brisbane lucky coz Essendon's guns were injured in the 01 GF? Maybe yes, but they were still in the best 3 teams all year & hit form when it counted... Geelong won coz they were head & shoulders above anyone else. Maybe if WCE were fit, maybe this maybe that. However you look at it, whatever happens to Geelong this coming season surely nothing can top last season. I swear I thought the Eagles would win the next five flags and look what happened. A lot can change and very quickly. I am pretty sure they will win it next year but there always teams that surprise and ones that disappoint.

A lot went right for Geelong last year.

Ablett and Bartel took the next step. Mooney finally got his act together, Johnson went from almost being kicked out of the club to an extremely effective and dangerous forward, Egan came out of nowhere and there are other examples of players having career best years. The stars were alined, Geelong managed to get the best out of their (admittedly sizeable) talent, they had the raw desire and drive and pretty good run with injuries. These things can change pretty dramatically - look what happened to West Coast.

Going into this season, Geelong deservedly are clear favourites, but much can happen in the course of a season...

Damn straight! I remember reading a magazine early this year and it was about West Coast and if a 3-peat was on the cards. Just looked what happened to the eagles. So these kind of threads are pointless, just because geelong won the premiership this doen't equal winning it next season.
