You know how to read, read away!

It's fair to say the Geelong supporters have a worse rep on BF.

Unless you wanna run another poll to prove otherwise?

BTW i've been on BF longer than you so if anything you are the newbie. :D

IIRC, isn't it one of the site rules that one person cannot have more than one account???

Why, because we won this year? Bet it wouldn't have been like that last year. West Coast would have taken it out.

And if you've been on here, you've most likely been banned and created a new account - if that's true, then I wouldn't be talking reputations.

Sydney and West Coast supporters were much more humble than the Geelong supporters have been. As i said before, not all but some of you. It seems some of you don't realize there is such a thing as being a sore winner but i am not overly surprised considering the fact that a few of the culprits are only 17 years old.

I have never been banned, i changed my name that's all. Don't imply that i was previously banned unless you have facts to back it up.

didn't want to waste time writing out his full user name.
so the question remains to be answered...

You joined in Dec 2007, yet you claim he is the newbie????

as we (myself and SJ) have said earlier, if you have been on here longer than him you more than likely have two accounts.....

I said most likely.

And if you really have changed names, I apologise.

I was pretty sure that your 'Join Date' wasn't changed and post history wasn't cleared when you changed names...

Geelong actually dominate teams, West Coast would grind them out and hope to win by 3 goals

Geelong has a bunch of players in that critical 23-28 age range, only 2 or 3 players were under that in the grand final win. If they can maintain the consistency and keep the players under contract and on the park then they have a Brisbane type of Era possible.

Neither. They will be good for the next few years but wont be as good as they where this year for many many years to come. IMO they will not win the Grand FInal neext year but will come close

Interesting question, but the Cats fate will have nothing to do with a "hangover" and everything to do with a few little realities that were glossed over by the adoring media. In 2007, the Cats were without question the best performing side in the AFL. However, 2007 was notable for the extra-ordinary lack of quality in the top-8 due to various circumstances. The Weagles, for example, would have almost certainly played, and possibly beaten the Cats had Judd, Kerr and Cousins not been injured for their final V Pies. I can't remember the last time when all 3 of these players had been unavailable for a game. Port and the Pies, were barely top-8 quality, and progressed way beyond their ability, due to such circumstances, meaning the Cats had little competition in the end. Lets look at their list. Their defence is and has always been awesome. Scarlett has been the best FB in the AFL for the past 5 years, without question. Midfield was brilliant in 2007. Lots of quality and depth. But the forward line is a little mixed. Great small forwards, but average KP forwards. So a good side yes, but a great side probably not. The Cats will be relying on Hawkins to stand up over the next few years, despite the lingering questions over his weight and fitness issues. If this Geelong side had played in 2006, they would have finished 3rd. The media and their supporters are telling us they have the next 2 flags in the bag, but if you look at their performances objectively, and the circumstances surrounding them, it is unlikely. :)

Geelong has only lost one (maybe two) players from our premiership team
(those 2 players being Nathan ablett and steven King).

Our form is great.. there is no guarantee that we will be top4 next year but it looks good to a finals perspective.. we have a strong bunch of boys which some are young and the others are experienced..

If injuries stay away we are going to hav a good season in 08. Watch for the likes of Bartel, Mooney, Selwood and Ablett.. a few other boys such as Mackie,Ling, Stokes and Corey are contributing quite fairly to the game.

bring on 2008..

geelong winning the grandfinal was a fluke they did a bradbury all the other sides fell over at the wrong time of the season and geelong got home. anyone coulda won the grand final this year with all 16 teams outa form

If Geelong played like they did in 2007 when they were out of form, imagine how good we'd be if we actually were in form!

But if you want to talk about a team doing a Bradbury, look no further than your mob in 1999. At least Geelong finished 1st after the home and away games. Where was Carlton on the ladder leading into the finals? Just as well justice prevailed and you got your butts kicked in the GF.

Back on topic, I expect an era of domination. As most people have said, the majority of our players will be in the 23-28 age bracket, plus there will be a lot of competition for spots in the senior side. With the exception of about 6-8 players, every other spot in the side is up for grabs, and those selected will be hell bent on performing well to keep their spot.

Will we be as good as 07? Not likely. But we showed the improvement required and the potential to win another flag is there. Certainly our fitness has to stay with a similar trend.

But let's not pretend that King did anything throughout the year, and Nathan's impact was minimal after the first 5 rounds. Showed patches of form but it's more of a loss of potential than a loss of current ability.

So I think that they are contenders for certain, but it won't all fall into place like it did this year.

How can anyone know, these threads are pointless.

If Geelong get a few serious, long- term injuries, then ofcourse they aren't going to dominate but visa versa and there is no reason why they can't.

It's that simple. Surely there is better stuff to talk about.
