Poor West Coast, their precious premiership favouritism taken away. Wouldn't because they can't win in Melbourne, could it?

If anyone deserves to be favourites, it's Melbourne.

Why? What bastard son of logic are you using to come to that conclusion?

we are now the highest scoring team in the AFL, we have an outstanding record in Victoria, where the GF is played. Why shouldn't we be favourites for the flag???

I don't care for premiership favouritism. It doesn't win you games, that's for sure.

Having said that, Melbourne and Geelong have both lost 2 more games than WC.

Your standards for measuring teams are completely elastic. You're prepared to overlook the 3 losses of Geelong and Melbourne, but condemn WC after one defeat, purely because it occurred in Melbourne.

You're drawing hard and fast conclusions about what WC is and, mostly, isn't capable of despite them being clearly the best performed side in the competition.

We can argue back and forth about what will and won't happen 3-4 months from now, but at the moment, WC's results are superior to those of any other team. What else matters? What other index can you measure sides by that isn't completely speculative?

More like common bloody sense board. We win eight games on the trot, lose one and suddenly a side two games behind us on the ladder is premiership favourite? God theres some morons out and about these days.

I said it last week (search away) that if WC could pick there GF opponent id take Geelong in a heartbeat. Today proved why. And they say WC has no tall forwards to kick too.

Overated side for bandwagon jumpers.

Of course they're premiership favourites and i reckon still are. Firstly ya team has to learn to play in Melbourne and win where it counts or you are no chance buddy.

Personally i wont be happy til all the bottom feeding illiterates who bought into this hideous lie that Geelong were ever a better premiership chance than WC this year, are exposed for the 'no nothing about footballs' that they obviously are. And that means you Anthony Hudson.

What a shame the big Unit won't be able to watch his beloved eagles play for the rest of the year. Apparently he is picketting Tabcorp's head office furious at the fact that they dare put up odds that have any team other than the eagles favourite. Then after his week long protest there he heads off on a national tour going from house to house abusing every person who has placed a bet on any team other than the eagles...hence causing the eagles to lose favouritism. Because as everyone knows, betting odds determine the results of a match. It's not like there's been any upsets this season

Is it possible in all of this that we may have overlooked Collingwood's beating of the Eagles as a sign they are going to be playing some good footy from now on?

I didnt see the game yesterday but apparently they beat the Hawthorn side that upset the Dees and the Dockers. Now i know WC should still win a game like this but its still not the disaster it was made out to be. The Pies were hard at it all day and just run them off their legs in the finish.

All of Melbourne, Weagles, Cats and possibly St Kilda can win this year just comes down to injuries etc.

From a Demon perspective we havent lost when we have our best 22 out there sadly that has only happened in about 3-4 games but you cant expect much more, we lose a few for the season and we are gone and i would think the same for the other 3. St Kilda is just coming out of a rough patch now.

The top 2 positions are crucial now and the Eagles will be well on the way if they beat the Power today. If the Eagles finish 3rd or 4th however i feel they may be gone.

Anyway those 4 teams for mine all great to watch any could win! Could be an awesome finals series.

Go Dees!

It is an unreal season, upsets all over the place. Tippers nightmare. Pretty close on the ladder.

LOL - does UNIT need a dog?

He really got his knickers in a twist after WC were displaced as flag favourites last week. :D

If I was a WC supporter, I'd be more concerned about the eagles shocking record in Melbourne than who the bookies tip for the flag is.

Eagles are two games clear on top of the ladder, that means they should be clear cut favorites for the flag.
There are 2 things that determine who is the betting favourite for a competition... the bookie's expectations of the result and the amount of money already held on each team.
Click on the little "betting odds" link at the top of this page. A couple more clicks show you that the Wiggles are 3.39-3.60 to win, Gee 4.25-4.75, Saints 4.5-4.75,Melb 6-7.5,Adel 15-21,Port 13-21, Freo 21-31, Rich 26-34 etc etc.

But as we've seen in the past few weeks... being a favourite often has NOTHING in common with being a winner!

Just thought id bring up this thread once again. How Geelong could ever, ever have been usurped WC as flag favourites is an absolute disgrace and proof that Victorians dont know footy as well as they think they do.

Enjoy your Pizzas Geelong. Shame there isnt a number you can to get a strong marking forward delievered.
