Rumour Geelong - Rohan, Kerridge and Vickery

Pretty sure the OP said there was a number of names, and some were "confirmed" (done deals - i.e. the group we're talking about) and the others were simply possible targets. Can't remember exactly how it was phrased but go back and read his posts again and it should make sense...
Cusp=At Geelong next year'.

The snapchat was two lists on a whiteboard. 'on the cusp' & 'on the move'.
Rohan, Vickery and Kerridge were in the 'on the move section'. The only names I can remember listed as 'on the cusp' were Hayden Crozier, Max Gawn and Gorringe from the Suns.
Rohan, Vickery and Kerridge were in the 'other' group, NOT in the group that equaled 'at Geelong next year'
Similarly, his logic suggests Crozier, Gawn and Gorringe were in the 'at Geelong next year' group.

Right you are...!

Find it hard to believe that the Cats would sign two ruck men a year after bringing Hamish in, too!

I understand being a draw for players to want to come. Makes sense really. Finals every year since 07 and PF's most of the time or better.
That said, there is no way any of that makes sense.

Rohan has re-signed so would cost too much and there are better options to spend trade value on.

Vickery does nothing for us and has it SO good at Tigers that he the reality of having to play for his spot at Geelong would kill him.

Kerridge could be interesting but I think is still contracted. And would cost a lot in trade value .

And its not as if we have heaps of list space to fill.

Kerridge signed on for 2 more years, August '13, so not very ikely

Four would seem about right to me on a main list of 38. Adding two more (plus Vardy) seems like too many bigs on your list to me.

Hamish is old and is probably in his last year next year given his injury history.

Simpson is having more back sugery and may not make it due to his body, ditto Vardy.

Walker is not a ruckman and Blicavs is more valuable to us elsewhere he is only rucking because we dont have other options.

While I think the OP is rubbish about us getting these players, it's definitely incorrect to say we don't need a ruckman.

Well if Geelong think they're taking Kerridge from us then what are you going to offer us? Kedge is contracted so it better be good!

I reckon the premise is rubbish so take that for what you will.
Of the 3, Kerrdige is best option.

AS you say, he is contracted so it would be high. Would definitely get our second and probably worth our first.
All that said, 4% chance to happens and we kinda have bigger needs.

I thought you do have a need for inside mids though as your the bottom clearance side in the comp.

Yup.

And 3rd on the ladder.

It is an issue in isolation - can't argue that. And should be improved.

Im sure your clearance level is higher. Hows you plan for the finals?

More to it than that.

WE have bigger issues than that as I said however.

Ruck and, another KPD that is not a 3rd type, and a 2nd KPF - WAY bigger issues than what Kerridge would solve.

I'm sure you do have some bigger needs but I'm not having a pot shot at Geelong, I just read you are the bottom side in clearances geez. And if you get more bigger bodied mids you are going to be even better.

didnt take it as a shot. Was pointing out that clearances while important are not essential to win a lot of games. It would be hard to win a flag from there IMO however.

Kerddige would be a help as i said but its # 4 on the list. And if rucks were better, our clearance numbers would improve. Another good but not great or elite mid seems a lower priority. If it was for a bag of chips, then it sould be worth it. But as you stated, he is contracted and the price would be rightfully steep.

Not gonna happen.

Surely Tom Mitchell would be looking around too?

Would be great but he is contracted and on a decent wicket up there. Blues have been mentioned as into him and Swans won't give him up cheap.
I would have thought he would be a monty to get more more games next year up there…

Go Catters

Yes you're right! I'm not sure how you know this but it's true he has been "looking around" for a house in Sydney!

Didn't figure he would be going anywhere but you might want to start playing the bloke.. and soon.

Hard to keep good talent in the wings too long these days….

But it's not for anyone else to worry about.
He has two years to run on his contract. I know he loves the place & should the club believe they can get themselves into a greater position on field going forward then they can perhaps do a trade but it would have to be a mutual win/win.
One mustn't forget his dad works for the Swans & loves & respects the club.

The reason we made such a contract was to avoid the fantasy situation that all but the Sydney Swans are making up because they are not up to date with what has been the issue with Tom & that is that he hasn't been able to string consecutive full weeks of training all year until recently.

So in the mean time, everyone should just watch their own 'star' players because I know the Swans are setting the new bench mark for how to get the most out of free agency & that is by aggressively turning over our own list in order to acquire something we need in order to continue being a p'ship threat.

This new age says that you can not stagnate with the same players year in year out. It's just that some clubs will take a while to come around to this new necessity.

You mean like we have done with HMac, Caddy Rivers and potentially Frawley. Remember also we have gone from the only team in the league 3 years ago that only had Geelong drafted players ( no trades or FA) to what we had now. You are doing well with FA but it's hardly new for you guys and benchmark setting is a little back slappy.

You or anyone else on here aren't flying my club's flag so why shouldn't I?

I didn't say you had done badly.

And it is a thread about 3 players supposedly going to Geelong… that has about 3% truth to it….

Wave your flag to your hearts content but don't get hurt if in a thread of this nature no one gives a crap about the Swans

Go Catters

So Rohan going to the Cats?
Nope. Contracted I believe and another outside flyer is not our area of greatest need - or top 3 actually.

You may lose him but not to us I'd expect.

Go Catters

Rohan shows that this rumour is BS

* He has recently extended
* Even if we wanted him, being not a free agent means we would either have to pay overs from him which we wont because because we are not Melbourne.
* If we couldn't get him in a trade, we would have no hope in the PSD.

Now it may be that Rohan is disgruntled and wants to move, and wants to move to Geelong, but it just isn't going to happen.

And for the record, he ain't disgruntled. Club re-signed him whilst he was still injured. I think he's very happy with the way he's been treated.
