A little over 20 years ago other Victorian clubs had an actual home ground advantage too.

Why would we bring up unfair HGA when everyone genuinely had it? The unfairness didn't exist then.

The last 20 years, the vast majority of teams we've played at KP were easy beats and interstate teams we'd have just as easily beaten at any other venue in the comp.
However the bigger teams we play at THEIR home ground, to THEIR advantage, an advantage they get 15-19 times a year vs our 7/8/9 times vs lesser teams.
A small advantage over a team you beat 90 times out of 100 is irrelevant, a small advantage in a genuine 50-50 game is the difference maker.
How many other clubs finish above a team yet play a "home" final at their home ground, at a time slot that suits their supporters more?
Zero. That's how many.
We've done it almost every season.

Seemed the overwhelming majority disagreed with that pregame.
The poll in the GameDay thread was 133-53 Ports way and before the bounce Geelong had odds of $3+ for a win.
Geelong were widely regarded as the most likely to suffer a straight sets exit.

Yet it's only after we absolutely destroy Port that I see the Port are shit/flaky, Geelong are good posts.

1 flag in a decade is not a domination. We're with a number of clubs that are consistently contending since early 2000s along with Swans/Pies and Hawks. All generally well run clubs.

Could well do. Depends if the state already has a broader supporter base, or doesn't embrace it.

Geelong started 100 years ago where everybody started supporting them, and no one else. Tasmania might already have a broader supporter base of teams and codes.

If 95% support their Tassie side, they will be just as culturally strong as Geelong. which will also lead to a dominant club. Possibly stronger.

Geelong were good going in to the game and after the game, being tipped the underdog doesn't mean people, don't think they're good, it's just the other team seemed to have the greater chance in the circumstances

What a lot of people don’t understand is that greater Geelong was referred to as sleepy hollow. A boring backwater with nothing going for it.
The fact that the club can now entice players to the area for a more relaxed and less expensive lifestyle, they can also buys a few acres just out of town or live on the Surf Coast or Bellarine Peninsula, or in town if they like.
What was once a hinderance is now an advantage so good luck to them.
The club is also well run and recruits well (Mannagh, Humphries etc).
It’s up to the rest to get better, not geelong getting worse.

It's the only club with a small bubble country city with 99% Geelong supporters.

For as long as that's the case, they will never be down for long.

I don't follow the NRL. But my guess is by the time they were established, the Newcastle population already supported other teams.
