Younger supporters may not fully appreciate the joy older Hawthorn fans have seeing Carlton loitering around the bottom of the ladder. Back in the 70s, 80s, 90s they were a loathsome club who thought they could buy and sell the VFL. When North Melbourne were struggling years ago, there was "Pigs Arse" Elliott telling the world they wanted to buy North Melbourne. Not merge, but actually own another club. They always thought they were bigger than the rest of the competition.

When Hawthorn played our home games at Princes Park, Carlton were a nasty piece of crap to deal with, often leaving facilities locked up, they made life miserable for Fitzroy. Then there was the John Platten case where they decided Platten was their player and got a rude shock when the case was taken to court.

No club, other than possibly Essendon deserves to suffer in their jocks more than Carlton. Long may they sit near the bottom of the ladder where they belong.
