Biggest myth in football in the ‘bloods culture’ and Longmire being a good coach.
Gets gifted great lists every year, then gets found out on the big stage when they have to win away from that ridiculously short ground they play on.

Second biggest myth in footy - biggest myth in footy will always be Paul Roos’ much vaunted (mainly by him) ‘leadership’.

We got em opening round. Will be interesting.
The biggest advantage to us is the destabilising nature of a senior coach change. But they've got a full 3 months of preseason to find their feet. A new coach will likely mean a new or modified game style that we won't have much intel on. Most players will dig a bit deeper to try and secure their spot in the team under new management too.

I think this could potentially make them an even more dangerous prospect first up. They'll be unpredictable and have everything to prove. That said, so should we.

My partner is a Swans supporter and her first reaction when I informed her was one of sheer relief that it's finally happening.

She's been calling for Horse's head since their 2022 GF debacle, saying no NRL coach would've survived this long with his track record in GFs. I think she was one of the least surprised Swans fans when their nightmare was reprised in the 2024 GF.

You need to put the foot down! ;)

Ricky Stuart has won one grand final and subsequently lost 3 of the next ones he contested - 2 of them with obscenely stacked sides. Trust me - there are NRL clubs stupid enough to continue plugging away hoping this dickhead can yield results - I’m coming up to year 12 of the nightmare and he’s inexplicably extended to 2029.

I think it’s ridiculous to say Longmire was not a good coach.

We all know the advantages afforded to Sydney, but to suggest those advantages are a walk up into grand finals is disingenuous or naive. Making 5 grand finals over 14 years with multiple playing lists and game styles should be respected.

Won’t go down as a great coach because they couldn’t get the job done in grand finals and actually got embarrassed in a few of them - but to say he was not even a good coach is nonsense, he clearly was. We shouldn’t downplay the difficulties and challenges of what is the AFL and why winning the premiership is so rewarding because we don’t like a club.

Something has obviously happened - the time to “retire” was a week after the grand final.

I’m leaning more towards tough conversations and some KPI’s and him not liking it
For it to happen first official week of pre-season could have something to do with how the contract payout is calculated too.

I agree, listening anytime to Tom Harley and you get the feeling he is a straight shooter who isn't afraid to make tough calls or have uncomfortable conversations.

Funny how no one mentions the Gabba.
The Gabba is 1m longer & 2metres wider.
MCG is 5m longer & 5m wider than SCG

It'll be the first time they test a new game plan on the big stage. I think that's an advantage. Let's see.
