Reckon we get another Purple article tomorrow talking about this?Pies wouldn't be in a GF next week without him, been a great result for both the Pies and Tom.
Tonight shows what Tom's greatest strength is. Yes he has limitations with disposal, etc but I've seen few better at winning the contested ball by sheer willpower alone.
Ten tackles as well in a final is pretty massive.
He's the best player in the league I was told!Where was Coniglio when the game was there to be won?
Not the first time either is it.
Fair chance I'd say.Reckon we get another Purple article tomorrow talking about this?
That’s because I love the history and passion of the game and its supporters whether or not it’s my team. It’s what I grew up with, not some soulless hollow entity with no supporters or history and gifted a bazillion top picks just to exist - why would I support that over the rich history of our VFL teams and supporters? You do realise neutrals said the same thing about our last two premierships? Odd that Hawks supporters are supporting the Pies, so ******* strange

I find anti-GWS discourse hard to take seriously when they're gutted of their best talent on an annual basis. For much of their existence they've been a feeder club for Victorian teams. Heck, arguably their best academy product was poached after playing just a handful of senior games.
For all their supposed concessions, on the aggregate I consider them to be the underdog more often than not.
Pies know they dodged one here.
No goal for an hour of football but still win? Reminds me of 2001 prelim ess v haw.
GWS just lost their killer edge in ascendence, and pies discovered theirs
Sometimes it comes down to match ups. They were not remotely clean tonight - would have been frustrating to be a fan watching that tonight. If they play like that and Brisbane/Carlton have more polish they’ll get trounced.
Look at the forwardlines of most of the sides . Bar Greene no real class stars out there last night to break the game apart. All these awful low scores for the past five years or so... that doesn't tell me the game has evolved at all, maybe defensively but no real excitement of pure skill particularly frwd of center . Just a bunch of players rolling to where the ball is and hammering it frwd and hoping a frwd has a good game. 58 points win you a prelim, now, I'm sure the Hawks averaged that in half a game for about 5 years straight!! The crows, cats and maybe eagles were not too bad either with higher scoring. The game seem to look good only because it's ultra low scoring which means no teams out of contention.
The AFL are too stupid to realise that the easiest way to reduce congestion is more free kicks - not lessThere's no such thing as Holding the Ball anymore, so you gotta tackle in numbers to prevent the ball being dropped/thrown out to a team-mate. It slows the game down & results in lower scores (as well as being a reason players wrap opponents up & sling them to the ground).
My opinion, anyway...
Would be awesome if we could have 23 straight games against Collingwood next year. Wouldn’t leave the MCG all season. And we'd still beat them. We match up beautifully.
Makes me excited for 2024.
Especially HTBThe AFL are too stupid to realise that the easiest way to reduce congestion is more free kicks - not less
they did this by taking all the picks available to them and not trading them away for hacks like Nathan Bock or Campbell Brown. taking the whole top ten picks meant that even if they go you keep getting top ten picks in returnTasmania should look at GWS to learn what a proper expansion club looks like. So should the suns for that matter. In a total non football state that’s the swans can hardly succeed in after 40 years they have a great team playing great tough football with an unbelievable travel record, elite social media and an ability to win over opposition fans like myself. This after being decimated year on year for developed talent and yet they have made a GF and should have been in 2 others whilst the suns haven’t even threatened finals. Kudos to a well run club (since sheedy left of course).
He was excellent. Work rate late was one of the best.Pies wouldn't be in a GF next week without him, been a great result for both the Pies and Tom.
