I feel sick. I just did this when Chris Scott was going off about the handouts to North (even though he managed to get in a passing dig at the Hawks)

It was a massive swipe at us.

Clarkson must be a genius. He apparently netted hawthorn a priority pick, which we had to trade for, three years before he got to the club. And got us a second priority pick in 2004 which we used on Buddy even though that wasn't a priority pick.

Lots of good points by Scott/Lyon

• North have played in way more finals than Saints the last decade, yet North are getting compensation when Saints are.
• It is too early to know how North will go with what they currently have been got in the draft last year and this... they could already have enough talent, but AFL have given a lot on top of that, and in a few years won't be able to go 'whoops, that was too much, we should take some back'.
• If a club digs themselves into a hole through their own decisions they should dig themselves out. AFL already has equalization measure in place.

The only thing I didn't get was Scott's lame dig about Hawthorn and priority picks. Used Hodge as an example, along with Roughead/Franklin which was untrue about Hodge,. But rich to bring that in, especially since Cats heavily benefited from the old father son rules, getting guns like Hawkins/Ablett for third round picks etc....

Think he got it wrong anyway. I cant be bothered looking it up but he said all of Hodge, Franklin and Roughead (and Lyon mentioned Lewis ) were all priority picks which is rubbish. I'm pretty sure only 1 pick out of that lot was given in 2004 wasn't it ? Again I may be wrong but I think that was the case.

Anyone know the name of the bloke who does three gravelly voice overs for 7’s AFL coverage? A lot of 7’s coverage makes me weep for my ears but his voice in those pre-game promos are always awesome to listen to.

They should just publish the votes up to halfway like the NRL does, then count on the night from round 12/13 onwards.

I just don't feel anything towards these nights.

I just can't stand all the bullsh!t red carpet garbage they do. Do the bloody vote reading, have it done in 20 minutes. No one cares about the other rubbish.

How could there possibly be an upset? The media tell the umpires who will win months out, and they vote accordingly. That's why it's always midfielders, because the media are too stupid to recognise defensive excellence.

I remember a game against Essenflog where Ben Stratton was best on by a street, and never received a vote, because the brownlow darlings had been set in stone.

Nope, you’re right. North traded us pick 7 which we used on Lewis. Hodge was obtained by trading Freo for THEIR priority pick. There is actually a short doco on the process behind that trade with Schwabby that you can look up on YouTube. Roughie was a PP and Buddy was our natural pick. But the difference re our PP and these North are getting is that ours came as a result of the operating system at the time and any team that failed to win enough games got one; there was no preferential treatment or intervention like this is where one bottom team is selected for assistance and none of the others.
