There is one thing etched in stone

Won’t matter how stellar a year he has

Toby Greene will never win a Brownlow

certainly doesn’t get the same love others do

The centre umpire in gws vs pies is ignoring everything that should be paid against the pies. And it's the umpire 100m away with the balls to pay it
The pies got a ridiculous amount of favouritism in the prelim last season.

Matt Rowell been a beast today. 10 centre clearance to the tigers 8. The rest of the suns only had 8 combined.

Also had 20 clearances which is the 2nd most ever with the highest being Salmon with 22 back in 1998.

To go with 26 contested possessions.

He's back baby.

The core group of Anderson, Miller, Rowell, Flanders and one of the best ruckmen in the league in Witts is an elite combination.

Very few teams can go with them. Add to that the crop of young talent they got rorting this year's draft...

Its a good group .
But its one game and they beat Richmond who look every bit bottom 4 based on yesterday. Richmonds one paced midfield controlled them for half the game too .

Would want to see how they go against better teams and if they can actually do it consistently over the season .

They looked like our group after we added Titch and JOM. They’re trying to squeeze the last of the juice out of the orange when they should be starting again.

Can you say what this is about. Or just a clickbait article about nothing?
"Essendon greats Kevin Sheedy, Terry Daniher, Roger Merrett and Bill Duckworth, as well as Carlton’s four-time premiership hero Wayne Johnston, are named in a bombshell Supreme Court statement of claim that was lodged against the league last Tuesday.

The document alleges the Krakouer brothers were called “petrol sniffers”, “a--s” and “n-----s” in the 1980s."

Thanks. I've found the article on FoxSports now. Interestingly the AFL has already stated
“We do not agree with the claims that the VFL/AFL has been conducted negligently over the past 47 years and we will defend those claims.”
Does that cover the Clarkson era at Hawthorn? And I wonder if the claimant will also go via the HRC?

Giants backline is unreal- Taylor, Buckley, Idun, Himmelberg- like a brick wall just work so well together…

It's essentially an entire backline capable of playing as talls, Smalls and rebounded.

Would be like us having 2x both Scrimshaw and Sicily down there and no other types.

I'm glad they had that free to air exposure during last year's finals series, because now the wider footy community who 'don't watch Giants games' realise how fun that team is to watch.

It was partly why I was going for the Giants in last year's preliminary final. Wasn't because of the typical dislike for Collingwood. Just felt like the possible GWS vs Brisbane Grand Final was a mouth watering match up.

Mitchell and O'Meara at least took us to finals first
If Rioli didn't retire and Mitchell didn't break his leg things would be different. Obviously that play was a failure but 2018 showed that it was a good plan that a few parts failed on. Mitchell coming in and pretty much winning the BnF everyyear he was fit and winning a brownlow was a massive win. And despite the hype at Gold Coast of Jaegar being the next Judd, his Career best football was at Hawthorn and he was one of our better players.

Vickery, Patton, Scully, Rioli, Mitchell broken leg, Stratton hitting cliff, O'Rourke being a dud, Langford never getting back to 2014 finals form, were what tanked the plan. Imagine Wingard coming in 2019 with Mitchell backing up his Brownlow with the same level of football.

I still contend that rebuild from draft like 2008 is impossible now. People claimed we where "topping up" like we did in 2011,2012 etc when in reality it was a clear rebuild with the 4 year development shortcut. Get the guys who are 22 and already proven AFL talent about to peak rather than 18 year olds. I think there will be a side that does win a flag in the next few years using that method of skipping development years on draftees and trading for 22-24 year olds, establish a core of those players with draftees, THEN go hard on Free agents. Grab 4 DFA for depth (Cheney, Simpkin types). Fill a hole with a gun free agent like Melbourne did with May. Melbourne spent years on the bottom getting oliver, petracca, brayshaw, viney then waiting for them to get ready and then May, Leaver, Brown, Langdon transform the team once those draftees peak.

We could do that with Sicily, Scimshaw, Day, Jiath, Weddle and even DGB as 6 medium intercept defenders.

The AFL won’t be able to put the genie back in the bottle on this one.
Of course they will, it's the AFL. They'll stare right at you as they sweep it under the rug and tell you "Nothing to see here!".

Taranto and Hopper are their Mitchell and O'Meara.

It's going to be a rough road back. They'll need to bottom out and pick high.
The flip side is that GWS once again got rid of solid footballers who looked better than they are among their stars and used that to improve their position. They look ripe for a serious challenge this year
