Just got back from AO. No idea how it looked on TV but here are some half cut observations:

  • Crows looked terrible. No cohesion or rhythm like last year
  • Geelong heavily reliant on the old brigade. Their rebuild will need to coincide with Tassie in the draft
  • Hawkins took the piss out of Butts. Frosty will need to wear him like a glove
  • I’m glad we picked Mackenzie over Clark
  • Stewart needs to be held accountable. Just floats loose all day and picks off everything. I can only imagine the damage Sic would do playing that role in that team

I have no idea how Clark went that high, slow inside mid with poor foot skills.

Love Geelong to play finals. Just means a shitter draft hand for them. They aren’t doing anything with this list and with Tasmania coming in they’ll have a prolonged period in struggle street. Haha.

Geelong have been "too old, too slow" for a decade and keep turning up to prelims more than any other team.
That club deserves deep respect for staying competitive against the odds.
They will rebuild faster than you would like.

This will help

Itll be an interesting watch . They most likely will need to do bulk of rebuild when Tassie concessions are in full swing .
Will have another 6-8 or so 'older' players out over the next season or two

I would seriously play Finn on him - just take him completely out of the game
Finn is excellent at tagging ground level players who run. That’s not Stewart.

Stewart intercept marks long bomb kicks. Often by identifying the opposition forward who plays highest and rolling back off him to fill space.

We don’t see him defending players who start deep and lead up at the kicker - do we?

So IMHO a better match up would be a quick leading player who demands the footy and is used as a hit up.

In a weird way the idea of playing Ginni or The Wiz on him appeals to me.

Park them deep in our forward line and kick it low and direct.

The hard bit is to deny him the match up he wants.

If you chose to play Finn on Stewart, he’d just go straight to Moore (leaving two guys on one player) and then Henry or Kolo would become the spare.

They deserve nearly as much respect as a club that gave them a 28 year headstart and yet still has more Premierships than they do.

Can you guess the club I am talking about?

He’s not even that good on the inside either. If we was at least dominant at getting his hands on the ball I could understand it but he’s a complete non-factor in there

Whilst I love a good Geelong bashing, Clark has played a total of 3 games. Bit early to be hanging s**t on him.

It's more so looking for the traits that saw him drafted so high.

He's smaller. Not physically strong or strong over the footy. Average disposal.

Even in Cam Mackenzie's first game we saw the elite traits he possessed at under 18 level.

Clark will need to work extra hard to forge out a 200+ game career.

Good luck to the kid, and I hope for his sake he makes it. I just personally don't see it yet, unless he can become a genuine accumulator like Jackson Macrae.
