Exactly this.
They need genuine senior leadership and should be putting feelers out everywhere to players in the twilight of their careers and seeing if they want to extend. Obviously there’s not 15 Luke Hodges running around the comp, but literally anything is better than what they’ve got.

Couldn’t agree more. The win against the suns by north is full of meaning. The potential straw that broke the camels back of a club now Fitzroy like and probably not worthy of continuing with.

I found over there that Foster's on tap worked pretty well for injury relief .....good luck with the recovery

They had more than enough picks to make it impossible for eagles not to trade and in true Norf fashion they messed that up. They simply had to have Harley for relevance and fan engagement I said it during trade period it’s not hindsight.
That to me is the true straw that broke the camels back as it showed they are beyond help.

There is an unwritten rule in football. Never go full north. Its never going to end well.

Yeah, I agree, North could have packaged up the 2 x End of 1st Round picks plus their 2nd and 3rd pick and sold it to WCE for Reid and likely the WCE 2nd.
WCE could have then packaged up whatever they wanted and still got Curtain. They would have certainly made GC pay value for Walters, not like North by not bidding on him until No. 3. Maybe it was splitting 3, maybe it was packaging up those 2 for a better position like North did with GC, who knows but North dug their own hole.
Blind Freddy could see their D50 this year was going to be like a sieve but I'm not sure too many thought they'd be giving up 100+ every game. Unless something drastic changes, they will struggle to win a game as they won't be able to prevent scores being kicked against them.

Nope, you don't ever deliberately lose a game, no matter what the cost. Everyone's down on North right now, but let's face it. After the Horne-Francis experience, who could blame them for not getting too excited about a #1 draft pick? As for Harley Reid, we all suspected he'd be good, but let's be honest with ourselves, who can honestly say they thought he would have had such an enormous impact after only 6 games?

Retrospectivity is a marvelous thing. We can learn from the past and be hopeful about the future, but there is only now, and you live and die by the decisions you make today.

Anyone paying attention to junior football and the draft knew exactly what Harley was going to be. Harley had 2 years of the greatest pre draft hype in history and on top of his ability it was even more how he handled that hype. I agree impact this quickly maybe more than expected, but that is exacerbated by the lack of relevance of the eagles have had in previous years. Big trade offers came for him so they all knew, just not big enough and north will pay a high price on and off the field.
