I love the club, but we went to Tassie for the revenue plain and simple. Growing the supporter base = more money. It's shrewd business and I support the club for doing it - Dingley is the house that Geoff Harris/Tasmania built and thank you to them both. There are so many other things you can point and laugh at Norf for - continuing to bed down their financial security (they are debt free and running profits at present) isn't one of them.

Initially it was to not lose money at docklands

Docklands and mcg remuneration are much better now

I’d reduce Tassie to two games from 2006 and maybe toe in the water in cairns. Doug Nichols round

See how the cairns finances pan out

I'll be very disappointed if we play home games in Cairns. That place is even more backwater than Launceston. and harder to get to. Let the minnows sell out their membership’s access to the team.

From some discussions I have had recently with a few journos, the Cairns plan looks to currently be on the shelf for the time being. We will continue to work on our relationship with Tassie until the Devils come into the competition, which is in 2028. There is a chance that we might drop from 4 home games to three, but we will still continue with Tassie where we have a spectacular relationship and fan base.

I think this is a wise move. If our success trajectory continues over the next few years. Grafting a few more games in Melbourne over this period will be good. But I wouldn’t think moving completely away from Tasmania is beneficial to the club either or the AFL.

That's good to hear. Thanks for the news, Newmo89 . I look forward to the day we learn the plans have been soaked in gasoline and set on fire with the ashes buried in a voodoo graveyard, cursing anyone who disturbs the remains.

I wonder if we will keep maybe one game in Launceston, we have a great winning record there, early in the year when the weather is great and maybe score some loot from local government. Mind you we will probably play Tassie Devils in Hobart given our decent membership in Tas.

I personally can’t see how it would be lucrative, maybe symbolic for Doug Nicholls round.

I personally don’t see a ‘Tassie replacement’ but good luck looking

I can’t see how anywhere outside Melbourne would be better than marvel either. It’s up to the club to negotiate a good deal and promote it.

As more non melbourne teams arrive, there are less ‘away games’ in Melbourne too.

It's lucrative because governments will pay for it. The Bulldogs are getting high-six figure sums each game they play in Ballarat - a club would be crazy to look that gift horse in the mouth.

My only beef with the north move is the percentage boost the eagles and dockers may get with the home ground advantage
It's not really a home ground advantage, it's being played in Bunbury.

I'd rather them play it at optus to be honest. Give the fans on the waiting list a chance to attend a game

The difference is we didn't hand home games to other teams.

I didn't realise this - but it's still saying to both perth clubs that they'll have one less flight to Melbourne, while North add two flights to WA as part of their plans.

True, but their motivation for it isn’t for the 4 points they just want the cash. Plus it’s Bunbury so who knows how well Freo or WC will play there. Plus Norf aren’t going to be playing finals the next two years.
