Honestly that logo gives me Minolta vibes from the 80’s, or some sort of paper or printing company.

It already looks 30 years old…and I’m not sure that’s what they were going for.

I am normally pretty easy to please when it comes to rebranding and new logos and i am also a huge sucker for anything with a sort of retro vibe...

However that logo is trash and somehow a downgrade on what they currently have. That club is so damn cooked they can't even get a simple logo right... Never fail to disappoint the Suns.

Devil's advocate on this one...

If it looks 'dated' it will fit in beautifully on the Gold Coast.

Plus, if something conjurs any feeling of age or nostalgia, at least that means it's likely to go through phases where it feels 'new' again.

Conceptually there appears to be some actual thought put into it this time as well.

I'm content letting this one play out. Need to see it with the new jumper designs to get the full experience.

I'm with you, will wait to see how it looks with the new jumper. At least it's not as bad as the new Adelaide one!

Jack (3-time) and Lewy (4-time) are doing pretty well at Fox.

I'm happy to give Hawkins a chance before making judgements.
Not a Porkins fan but love the changes in TV faces, got a bit stale this year listening wise and turned the sound off more than once. Desperately needed some competition and new faces, fingers crossed a few new ones liven up the commentary and add a few more IQ points to game discussion. Plus a big NO to studio calling, we can see what is happening on the screen what we really we need to know, is what’s happening off the ball around the ground.

This.

It's a bane and both radio and Fox callers do it.

There was a point last year that Brian Taylor was so behind the play that I thought he was doing it too, but it turned out it was just his ineptitude as a commentator.

I’m in complete agreement with your last sentence.

I rate Derm as the best ‘expert’ caller in the game because he does precisely that. He tells us what is happening further upfield, which the camera isn’t focused on, rather than what’s happening around the ball, which we can all see with our own eyes.

I don’t understand why so many people criticise Derm. A common complaint appears to be that he doesn’t talk about what’s happening in the game. It’s true that he doesn’t describe what’s happening in real-time - because that’s not really his role. Instead, he tells us about what could unfold upfield. As an example, he’ll tell us how and which lanes forwards are leading into, giving us an insight into what might happen. To me, that’s far more useful information as the camera doesn’t allow me to see that when I’m watching from home.

Ignore the critics and keep doing what you’re doing, Derm! Love ya, Legend!

I think the criticisms of Derm are when he goes on his long, waffling tangents about something that's presently not happening or about to happen in the game and just keeps coming back to it and back to it despite things actually happening in the game. He's not the worst to listen to by any stretch but he can get a bit lost in his own stream of consciousness at times.

Fair point but he still makes a heck of a lot more sense than most.

Oh look I would listen to Derm go off on a tangent for 4 quarters than listen to a single quarter of JB and BT assaulting my ears.

Speaking of whom, how is it that we haven't heard of those two being sacked yet? Wasn't the new broom at Seven meant to get rid of the old brass and promote proper callers such as Alister Nicholson and Jason Bennett?

Christmas gift for us all maybe?

The biggest critique of Derm is when he argues every free we get is soft and every one that goes against us is legit. It's like a concerted effort to make sure he is viewed as impartial, but it's really frustrating to listen to as a Hawks supporter. I'd really rather he just not commentate our games if that's his tactic.

Funny hearing Dermie joke on a recent podcast he needs to keep things more succinct when he commentates lol.
Love Derm. Give me him over "special comments" guys like Richo any day of the week

Greatest thing that happened last season was those one-eyed club commentary broadcasts.

Derm and Quarters talking about Essendon's hopes being dashed by Big Mac after the siren:
Quarters: "Yeah it was a terrible blow for Essendon fans!"
Dipper: sniffs dismissively... shame

It was beautiful.
