A couple of write ups on Crers AFLW's player Sarah Perkins in today's Sunday Mail. Apparently she is bigger than Tex. o_O

I saw a bit of the first Crers Women's game and Sarah can definitely play. Given all the hype and the claims from certain Crers supporting posters on this board about how the Crers are embracing women's football I find these comments interesting;

"After they exchanged the introductory follows on social media last week Perkins finally got to meet Walker at training on Monday"

"[at trainging on Monday] he screamed out 'Tex' from the top of his lungs and it was quite funny because the team was walking around and he called someone else 'Tex'"

These women being training at the Crers for months yet the club captain, who is pretty much there full time, hasn't even met them and despite all the exposure Sarah has been getting doesn't even recognise her.

What a funny story. I mean, it was tex. Calling another person tex.

Madness!

But if her name is Perkins isn't she being nicknamed after this bloke?

Low scores continue

Yesterdays draw was the highest scoring game so far with a combined 86 points.

Remember the quarters are only going for around 18 minutes which is 12 minutes or more less than mens footy.

The winning team just scored 17 points! Dingle, it needs some tweaks

So if the Crows become the AFLW premiers, since they're already counting their chickens as per usual, do we then constantly remind them that AFLW don't count, aren't legitimate achievements for their club, blah blah blah

Crows poster asking how long before the crows women's crowds overtake our mens team. This is why they shouldn't have nice things.

Let them have their collective imagination, they like to imagine all sorts of shit, like tarps returning, SANFL integrity, 70/30 divide, Port being the only AFL club that's ever received financial assistance, 2007 being their vicarious Grand Final, that they have no feral supporters and that Dangerfield was ever going to finish his career there

They could go for 20 minutes more and they would still be low scoring games. It's not the length of the game that's the issue, it's the quality of the play. It's like watching the worst of a Ross Lyon coached team play in the mud, yet it's a dry day. The tackle count seems to be at the level of an AFL side, so what does that say about how they are instructed to play?

I love the commentators trying to talk it up too.

They can win as many of these premierships as they like and count them all. The standard is so mindbogglingly poor that it's ten times worse than winning the SANFL reserves competition. Hope they do win it, because then their expectations for their lovely boys will be through the roof and will be more enjoyable to see crushed when real elite football - not the relative elite football that the commentators are talking about - starts.

To the professionalism/wages of the players more than to the rules though, there's only so good a player can get, and only so cohesive a team can get, when its not their full time profession.

They should shorten the field like they do for mini league games. I remember having to play over the full length of aami stadium and you would be lucky to get a goal.

Are you sure it's even that long? When I watched the last quarter today they didn't turn the countdown clock on straight away but it could only have been just over 1 minute into the last quarter when they did. At that time the time left was 13.55.
