It will be interesting to see how we go next year because there wont be the same kind of hunger as there was this year, I have a lot of respect for Crows and Lions who have been able to sustain such a high standard year after year for so long.
After 2019 when the Crows dominated all comers and kept all but one of their premiership players, I was convinced we would have a dynasty. Instead, we were hopeless in 2020 and then lost the GF in 2021. It's hard to stay on top!

North will go into 2025 the deserved favourites but who knows how the stars will align next season.

Reckon North would have still beaten us but reckon we would have put more of a contest up

Brisbane are a bit like a rollercoaster, often having poor first halves and relying on having strong second halves, Crows are more consistent, just don't take advantage of their scoring opportunities when they dominate with the ball.

Our recent battles have been really close.

If I wasn't going to get to watch the Crows win a GF this year, I'm glad to see Ash Riddell win a premiership medal. One of my absolute favourite players, love how she goes about it.
Jas Garner is one of my fav players and I believe to be the current best player in the AFLW. Glad she got her premiership and best on ground. Well deserved.

What a rubbish article.

What was stopping them have it at Marvel this year?

I guess their point is that in order to use a big venue, it needs to be locked away in advance, but under the current system they don't know where the GF will be played until the week before.

But I think they're also missing just how much value there is in having a community-focused competition. 12,000 or so attendees is nothing to sneeze at, and having the local fans there adds a lot. And imagine if it had been Brisbane vs Adelaide and it was at Marvel Stadium? Probably would have been at 10% capacity with no atmosphere at all.

So Clarke’s summary of the season was; didn’t defend the ground good enough and wasted chances… but continued to “give themselves a chance” by just making finals.

At that stage where Clarke’s continued ability to say absolutely nothing in such a round about way while always keeping that ‘good comes with the bad don’t dwell on anything’ smile on his face is becoming a little tedious…

I mean, when you say "we didn't defend well enough all over the ground, and also we were inefficient when going into our front half" you're basically saying that you got every facet of the game wrong, aren't you? What else is there?

At least he's acknowledging that this has become a pattern. I'll give Clarke credit, he has reinvented us once before when things went to shit in 2020. He's going to need to do it again, and probably only has 1-2 seasons left to do it.

As much as I've liked what he's done in his tenure so far, I don't think he's irreplaceable by any stretch. Much of our team success is a function of our top 12 or so players, and at this stage I think that I could probably coach them to a finals berth. If he can't show some new tricks soon, it will be time for some fresh ideas.

Think it’s a pretty closed shop down there, will never be any changes unless the two senior figures running the team decide to retire/leave.

It’s not even worth the speculation on the top positions when it comes to the women’s program as Silvers isn’t ever going to take any real proactive action especially while they’re always around the finals. Clarke has open reign on how long he stays and Phil Harper is a fixture on the wall down there given he was the one who really wanted a women’s team to begin with and obviously has no KPI’s given in his position he’s not improved the team one bit in recent years.

We've improved, we are a better side than we were 5 years ago, there is no question about it.

It's really only North and Brisbane who've gone past us, and you could argue Brisbane gets a massive helping hand too.

It's time for a change at the top, but some of the hysterics in here thinking that a change of coach is going to magically start winning us multiple flags again is ridiculous

It’s a good question to ask; are they a better side than they were 5 years ago? As mentioned earlier in this thread the team probably played their best football they ever have in 2019 and were far ahead of any other club and certainly looked like were on the verge of winning the next couple of flags at least, but Phillips, Scheer & Randall all doing ACL’s in 2019 pretty much scuppered all that and they’ve ended up with 1 more flag after the next 6 campaigns.

They’re definitely a hugely more fitter side as professionalism came along & individually more players in the squad have certainly become better & more complete players but that was always naturally going to happen given those increased standards. I wouldn’t think those improvements that have been there over recent times have actually had overly much to do specifically with Clarke’s coaching and certainly had nothing to do with Phil Harper especially with the minimal actions undertaken specifically over the past 3 seasons post the 2022 premiership to improve the side.

From the position they found themselves in the improvement incline/accomplishments (2 GF appearances) wasn’t as high as it certainly looked like it should’ve been even taking into account the talent pipeline being cut-off by Port’s arrival, which I feel those at the Club can only blame for starting to impact the team from this season onwards.

A bit rough after winning a B&F!

Good on her though, that's a great result for her.

I think she came third but still a podium finish.

With that said I did some further investigation and her Instagram is back to Woodland as well so...

Phil will retire next year. I think Clarke should go now.

We need a change of coach because we’ve stagnated. Our skills need work. And we need new blood to bring in new enthusiasm. I love Matty Clarke, a nicer bloke you will never meet. But i believe his time is up now.

It means she broke up with her fitness junkie husband most likely. Spends more time looking at himself in the mirror than he does working.

What do they say about women's football clubs though?
Possible she's switched sides?

I know (or hope?) that the comment was made in jest, but it's kind of gross to imply that people "switch sides" because they're at a football club with a high proportion of gay women.

Football clubs tend to attract gay women, rather than "converting" straight women.
Sort of.... .
