The solution is simple and it isn't shatter proof glass, locks, alarms, curfews or jail time

The solution is jobs, aspiration and hope

Murdaugh. What a ******* campaigner of a family. Generation after generation getting away with ,well, ******* everything.
Astonishing.

There is a good doco on Binge that takes us up to late 2022. I'll see if I can find a link for it that you can include in the o.p.

How do you make people work who don't want to work? Education?

no one wants to work

but people will do it if they are motivated

motivation comes from aspiration and hope

1) we destroyed hope when we thought we were doing the right thing in the early 70s
2) we now have to work hard teaching those that have lost hope what opportunity is

no one wants to work
Nah, plenty of us love working. We want to achieve, be part of something, make $$$.

Sounds promising but I have no idea how to achieve this in practical terms :-(

Dear Environmentalists.

We know you are fighting for a cause. There has been an incredible amount of media about it.
Destroying irreplaceable works of art makes you as stupid as someone who destroyed your precious environment for no reason.
WE KNOW YOU ARE FIGHTING FOR A CAUSE : coming up with stupid new ways to attract attention won't help you... because we already know.
Attacking art will simply make people think you are stupid, in fact i think you are stupid.

Try convincing people rather than starting a war.

On the topic of war, it uses a crap load of fossil fuel, try sticking yourself to a Russian Tank. I promise to sit up and take notice.

Err, no.

Infringement notices are not fines, and fines are invalid unless issued by a (lawful) court following lawful process. The High Court has ruled only a court can impose a penalty.

The Tassie government may be in breach of federal Privacy laws.

BTW most infringement claims cannot be actioned after 6-12 months without a court filing (statute of limitations on summary offences) so if you're not taken to court they effectively "expire". If you don't believe me DYOR.
Yeah, no doubt you're correct but who has the time for this? Do the right thing, park in the right place, don't litter, etc. Or if you can't manage that, pay your fine.

like all of us who have done it

the recipe is tough love and giving people the taste of success. It is a ground up process that requires top level support.

The issue is Alcohol.

Indigenous Peoples are leaving Communities in droves just to be able to drink grog

Restrictions in their Community means they seek it elsewhere.

Alice Springs/Tennant Creek/Katherine/Darwin is bursting with homeless drunks

Not to mention the record high number of incarcerations in the last couple years of COVID

worked examples as to how this may work

1) we have developed a CO2 free concrete, reducing CO2 by 1t of CO2 for every t of concrete produced. We could simply start mining and have zero engagement with the community but that wouldn't be moral and it would be a wasted opportunity to help others

  • we have named the cement with the help of elders. something as simple as asking the elders to come up with a name, starts the buy on on the project with the community
  • we have asked the elders map the material to be mined. These guys lived and played on the land, so it makes sense we pay them for their knowledge and more importantly carry out an act confirming we respect their experience.
  • we are about to commercialise with majors. the majors love the name and have set goals of having indigenous sales reps both here in Australia and internationally.
  • we have provided priority contract rights to indigenous cement companies. We buy the plant and equipment, we fund the working capital but we also request sweat labour to be carried out so they "own the pain" of starting a business.
  • the elders want programs at school to teach the chemistry, geology and physics of the product. This is connecting education with the "opportunities" around them

2) we are doing the same thing for hydrogen production in the area

we don't expect to change the world or change people. All we can do is provide opportunity and individuals and the community will do the rest. but it does have to start with engagement, respect and a little hand holding until the community ad individuals have the confidence to go the rest of the way.

A new article in the West just now for this 1979 cold case of an unidentified male.

Could only read 2nd link but I found it interesting they didnt identify race when one of the items was only available in Japan

Is it one of those bits held back to separate the cranks? I could understand the nationality given the clothing but it was also the 70s where colour co-ordination was whacky
