I doubt they give express orders to shoot children either. How is knowing and allowing it to happen any better than ordering it?

It's not much better, but it's better than an order or policy as less people will be carrying it out and knowing about it. The intentionality is different too It's still incredibly bad obviously, but it's pure speculation anyway. I don't believe that the IDF is aware of soldiers shooting kids in the head and not doing anything about it. Imagine the amount of people who would likely be aware of that. It's not easy to cover this kind of thing up long term. Career and life suicide to protect a few lunatic soldiers... why? It's not impossible, but I find it hard to believe unless it's only carried out and known by very few.

What's the speculation outside his expertise? What's the argument?

There are facts and what should be a pretty straightforward conclusion to be drawn from it.

It's not a known fact that the kids he and his colleagues saw shot were deliberately targetted. He admits that numerous times. It's boring repeating myself but he argues that due to the number of shot children they saw, it must be deliberate. This is an inference from an observations, not a fact. He says this himself over and over.

He is not an expert on urban combat or firearms. He can't attest to how likely it should be in urban warfare to see children shot coming into care which is crucial to the strength of his argument. In an article he wrote he oddly claims that the IDF are among the best trained marksmen in the world, when in reality a lot of them are reservists. He makes this point to strengthen the deliberateness of the shootings, but in reality it shows his knowledge gaps.

What age is this about? To me a child is 12 and under. How many are teenagers eager to participate in the “resistance” and are handed a gun, then counted as “children” when they become casualties?

I think the doctors are mostly if not exclusively talking about that 12 and under age group.
