In fairness, we started a month later, and had a heap of players get off season surgery ... the problem tho, that isn't news, and after Rd1 isnt the time to be getting some extra work in.

First off you blokes bag the fitness staff for ruining our players with foot injuries, now it's they didn't work them hard enough during the preseason. Aside from the other 3 side who played off in the prelim we started pre season later than anyone and add in 14-16 post season surgeries you can't expect to throw those guys straight into 100% training loads. As a group we are behind every other club due to making the prelim, and the additional surgeries, sides like Port Adelaide would of had an extra 4 weeks of training on us.

Maybe some of you experts should apply for missions job at the end of the season.

I dunno man everyone kicks Morton because of that Lade vision but he looked every bit a star early on. He had some ripping games.

Averaged 18 disposals an kicked 12 goals from 19 games as an 18 year old.
Then averaged 23 disposals again 2nd season

Agreed. I remember when we used to do an 'adopt-a-player' for the year and review their game each week I took Morton. Looking at his stats and run I thought we had a gun on our hands. Had a number of games in the mid 30 possessions.

Two seasons later, delisted.

To be fair whilst I'm critical of Mission I've never included Goodwin with those selections, I put that stuff on the fitness staff. It isn't Goodys job to get them right physically and/or make the call on them being fit.

And you believe him? He also said that Jones and Viney were 100% ready for round one. I watched round one, and they were not ready.

They'd be wrong if they questioned him on this.

The better questions would be more, 'They had 6 months to get Viney and Jones right, how have they not got them right yet? And if they aren't right going into round one, how on earth are we going to nurse these two important players through the season? Should we put them in cotton wool now, get them right in the hope that we win enough games with them out by the time they come back in the second half of the season, say?'

It was just so absolutely stand-out obvious to anyone who was half paying attention that they were nowhere near ready. My only theory is that it's some new sports science thing that allows/instructs them to play unfit players as they are getting back to full strength. But I honestly thought that is what the VFL was for.

Interestingly on the same weekend Jesse Hogan makes his debut, the three players we got in exchange for him (May, KK and Sparrow) will line up for us together for the first time too.

Maybe not that interesting actually.

Separate the issues, my point being people are great on here with captain hindsight calls. If Viney and Jones didn’t play Saturday and we lost - the same people would of been critical for not selecting them.
