Get Fev: yes or no?

I think the only possible answer to the question of "should the Lions try to get Fev?" is yes. Of course we should try.

Any club who doesn't think the Coleman medallist would improve their forward line is telling lies.

We definitely should TRY to get him... it's the stipulations and the price that should be the determining factors though, of course.

Staight swap for Braddles - if he wants to go because I don't believe the difference between them is worth the hassle.

Carlton pay half his wages.

No media work.

JB gets 3 rounds with him if he f***s up.

Gold!

He kicked almost a 100 goals this year because Carltanks forward line consists of O'Halpin and Cloke... do we think he'll get near that with Brown at CHF and our questionable delivery?

Bradshaw, minus a couple of injury niggles, was great again this year and kicked 60 goals. Will Fevolva add anything other than perhaps 2 more years of service?

My answer is NO. He'll get a hold of a couple of the young players and turn them into stinking blokes, and that we cannot have.

Yes.

I enjoy watching Fev. He's a character, and though he is often maligned, I view him in much the same way as some viewed Shane Warne in the text scandal days.

I went off him, but then he'd do something ridiculous like that Strauss ball and I couldn't help but going back to thinking he was the Jesus 2.0.

Not the best analogy, but I hope all you no folk see where I'm coming from.

if you could load his contract such that he doesn't get paid anything for being dropped for games, i could maybe see it working.

but i still don't think he's right for us.

Plus if you had those two and play Calrton in another final next year the margin will be record breaking :)

Carlton making the finals without Fev?

:D

i voted yes.

although he has a lot of off field problems i think he's still a good player & would be valuable in our forward line. with bradshaw close to retirement & possibly wanting to move back to vic then why not seriously think about fev in our team. i'm sure brown & voss can handle fev.

It is a hard question to answer, because like him or hate him, he is a good footballer. Most of his off field problems have been booze related, which isn't a huge huge problem, its just the consistancy of them, and really, carlton are as much to blame on that one. I dont really like Fev, and dont really want him, but if we landed him, i wouldn't be upset. Woudln't be jumping for joy, but i could accept it. I would rather have Brownshaw and have us chase after a Lovett type player though.

I'm going Yes.... Carlton should have to pay half his contract tho... don't want to trade our first pick either...
:thumbsu:
This is the hardest decision i've had to make since I was last in subway and the lady asked if I wanted my sub fresh or toasted.
AAAHHHH
Yes if the deal is right.
If we win a flag it'll be pay back for mummer's boy Marc Murphy.

How did I do Bob?

If they get Braddles next year they are a genuine premiership contender :D:D

Id get Fevola only if Carlton pays a fair bit of his contract. If a deal that doesn't suit Brisbane evolves, then we should move on straight away and forget about it.
Id also keep Bradshaw. He is one of Brisbane's greats and it would make me physically ill to see him in a Carlton jumper. To me the lions are a very loyal club especially to our greats and im very proud of that.Brisbane is building a great culture and a proud history and we shouldn't forget about that. Bradshaw is quite versatile and very important to us. I think a lot of people underestimate braddles.

FFS this is getting ridiculous. So, send the message to a young, tight-knit, disciplined group that bullshit will be tolerated if you're a star. Throw loads of money at the part of the ground we have identified as our greatest strength and one we know we have young lads of immense talent waiting in the wings for a crack at but will hamstring because of a selfish urge to go with some crappy star power theory over developing a group together we've been telling we believe in the ability of. Send the message that the club will quite happily tell you one thing then go ahead and completely change tak for 1 person. Not that it'd undermine group cohesion etc. Yeah sounds like an awesome idea... Think about more than 2 years of stupid backflip goals. We have talls.. we need SMALL CRUMBING goal kickers to send our attack to the next level. We need to throw more power and skill into the middle and we need to throw more drive into the back line. "Fevalenko" offers NONE of that, absolutely NONE of it. Anyone that thinks having him in our team would make us far more dangerous is delusional. The blokes mentality is cancerous and it would do way more harm than good.

All this shit stems from the wider notion that players with life problems just need to be traded to another club. Sure, it's worked in some cases, but ultimately I believe this is part of the same 'sweep it under the rug' mindset that pervades clubs with poor cultures & has dominated the NRL for years. Sometimes people, no matter how talented in a chosen profession, are a detriment to the wider industry. Paying for the liability of an old Fev riding his last meal ticket contract into retirement would be a blunder of epic proportions.

YES!

Think about it.

Bradshaw will struggle to go for another year. Fev has 3 - 5 years left in him.

That fact alone will be enough to convince anyone. Carlton will get peanuts out of that deal. We will rip them off

a) I think you underestimate Bradshaw

b) Hendo is a forward, not a back, we take Fevola, he's gone.

c) Fev costs 2x then some what Bradshaw does. Who explains to a young group that they have to take pay cuts or move on so we can fit a bloke that turns up to play when he wants to into the salary cap

d) Who do we blame when Browny has to do a Kirk & babysit Fev rather than captain the team?

e) How do we go about fitting future talent into the team in those years if we get him? do we just expand the rookie list usage then pray that good faith will keep players around if they cement a spot and are looking to negotiate a senior contract

f) Who do we blame when a couple of the young lads get in under Fevs wing and start to do the same stupid shit he does.

g) What do we do when fev drops his head and our young lads lose confidence on the park?

It's not worth it.. not by a long shot.

I'd say yes, only because seeing the man who booted them out of their first final in 8 years playing for them the next year, would be hilariously ironic.

But I'd also say no, because if I ever saw Braddles in a Carlton jumper, I'd have to get Judd to gouge my eyes out.

No thankyou.

If Bradshaw stays and plays for the Lions next year, then I will never, ever post on Bigfooty again if he doesn't retire at the end of next year.
