The only way we get Reid is with 3+ first rounders unless we trade an A grade talent which we have very few if any of that would even entertain going to WCE.

Now in 2-3 years time that may be different as player like Humphries or Edwards could become A grade but if they did why would we push them out?

Just noting the idea that people seem to think Edwards will play a part, or that we should draft and develop WA kids in preparation for the "inevitable" Reid trade.

It's a pointless idea. We'd need these kids to not just show talent, but look like genuine future stars for it to make any difference in a trade for someone like Reid...and even if that did happen, we'd want to hang onto them in that case (like Humphries).

You either get a kid like Edwards who's got talent, but won't move the needle on a trade, or someone like Humphries who will help get a trade done, but you won't want to do it.

Even if we are Reids' destination, we're better off working something out with picks than making plans years in advance and prioritising WA talent.

The payoff just isn't worth it. Pick the best kids, and we'll work something out if the trade eventuated.

Two of that level of talent (Probably could name 15 that would fit that for someone or other) …then have our academy kid become a R1 pick ….and then its all bath bubbles and giggles...

I think thats the key …. for any player to be worth something in a trade ..you probably will not want to lose him. So for Edwards to suddenly become a key plank in a trade ..he comes in …duplicates or betters Neales potential … and then WCoast come and say …Edwards and Hump ..and 2 R1 picks …. at which point our eyes bleed and try to get them to take 3 R1 picks and a R3.

Probably not worth being tp focused on it till he says he wants us..

Is Dattoli someone we'd look at if he slid? He looks like a high impact, punish the opposition type... Small forwards are not a high priority though for us... Although I think he can play mid.

Not sure if we would be able to get a back into the draft early enough to snag him… could be borderline a chance if he is someone we are keen on.

Shanahan + Neale young key forwards.

SDK + COS young key backs.

Conway + Edwards young rucks.

We’d all of a sudden look reasonably set for key position players all over the ground if we could get Shanahan.

He's not really like Jezza, but more a traditional forward I reckon. I like his aerial capability tbh. Looks a bit classy. You wouldn't hesitate at around Pick 20 that's for sure.

Think only a trade with the Tigers pick 23 or 24 or the Bomber's 2 first picks are possiblities.

The ball drop is a football version of Ipecac syrup ..Id think he would have to improve his kicking out of sight to make it as a a forward.. probably ends up as a intercepting backman..

We're talking about a generational talent versus future 250 gamers.

I know mine will not be a common view but I think the ceiling on Humphries could be higher than Reid. Humphries could reach the level of Andrew McLeod. My concern with Reid is that he is going to spend the next 2 years developing amongst a poor list and may develop some poor football habits that could then take a couple of years to iron out when he goes to a side with a good list around him.

Unless we had a recruiter banging the drum for a certain prospect, we would be crazy to trade a future 1st for anything over pick18 . Future 1sts are like crack to recruiting teams. Mainly as it provides list mgmt teams with time and space, they can bomb a draft, then look ahead and highlight their ‘two 1sts next year’. I could see us using a future 2nd to get a pick in the early 30’s, other than that I predict a quiet draft, with some absolute Wells knuckle balls late or in rookie draft.

Extremely competitive, explosive speed, physical. Not the best disposal wise, but neither is danger.
Only 181cm, but likened to toby greene in the way he plays as a mid/fwd
Boards seem to have him sliding. Was 10-15 earlier in the year, but now looking more like 20-30.

Could give us another injection of speed at the stoppage if we were to trade up. Strong chance GWS or the doggies nab him with their late 1st/early 2nd

I do like tom but in an ideal world I'd like one bigger mid to round out our mix of smaller mids.

I would not take any of these.

Holmes would never agree to leave Victoria so its irrelevant.
I wouldn't trade humphries unless my hand was forced. I would trade neale (reluctantly as it would force us to find another kpf and he's a decent player but Reid is absolutely generational) or Edwards if that's what it took.

Unless neale absolutely shoots the lights out neale/edwards and 2 first rounders (with later picks exchanged either way) is probably what they would ask for.

I'd be extremely surprised if we paid up for a ruck again this year with Edwards and Conway on the list. It feels like lazy reporting. They look at our list and see we need a ruck and don't check that we've already invested big time in developing rucks.

Twomey seems to be hinting it but this is one year even he will struggle to predict because of how even the draft is.
