I hope who ever comes in, they make a good crack of getting rid of gambling and crypto ads altogether.
I'd say keep gambling ads only after 10 at night, not make them part of the call etc. Crypto should be killed with fire and thrown into a pit.

They are getting money now, but it will stop and they will have lured people into losing their money.

If you buy some Bitcoin and walk away for five -ten years and wait, thats an investment. But if you buy some Bitcoin, try to sell it on a peak and re-buy on a trough, you are in the realm of gambling.
Which person does a crypto exchange make more money from?

Eddie McGuire would be a perfect candidate to take over the role in 2023.

:tearsofjoy: so he can abuse his power to promote Collingwood and it's sponsors every chance he gets, as he's done for 30 years? No thanks.

I really do like Eddie and his passion for sport and success, and generally has his heart in the right place. But he just can't help plugging a sponsor regardless of the situation.

The future of what, exactly? It's just gambling in a different form, disguised as a faux "investment" scheme.

If you buy some Bitcoin and walk away for five -ten years and wait, thats an investment. But if you buy some Bitcoin, try to sell it on a peak and re-buy on a trough, you are in the realm of gambling. I'm not the guy to give you a more detailed explanation or stat-driven data, but thats the gist of it, and they have big crashes when they crash. It's only for peeps with disposable income to burn. Shouldn't be allowed to be advertised as "the future" - that is well beyond false and is simply absurd.

I fear its the vulnerable who are attracted to a notion of "the future". Makes me sick even writing it. Not saying this with any hostility or incredulousness here. I just have a healthy fear and disdain for the wolf in sheeps clothing as I perceive it. Just remember that these celebrities spouting it as "the future" get paid tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars to say that BS.

Shame on you Matt Damon.
people like me buy it because of the chance it happens and you’ll hate yourself if it does and you weren’t in.. all because i don’t see another way of having a happy future

Nisbett has turned WCE into a financial juggernaut and should be considered - it would most likely be his final full-time appointment if he does 7 years.

Julie Bishop and , to a lesser extent, Amanda Vanstone would be outstanding candidates. Julie More so. Again, these would be final full-time appointments if they see out 7 years.

Kellie Parker from Rio Tinto would be an amazing out of industry appointment.

Basically I would want anyone from outside of AFL house.

That genuinely saddens me Sky, and makes me dislike those comapnies, including the AFL even more. Happiness can come in a variey of forms, and I'm sure you can and will experience a happy future without Crypto. My only advice to peeps having a dabble, is put a limit on your spend. Sure, invest your $100 or $1000 experiment, to see what happens. But if you end up forking out more and more (like gambling) try to recognise it, admit it to yourself, swallow the bitter pill of losing money you couldnt afford to lose, and muster all your emotional strength, and walk away.

Not a Tory voter by any chance?

Kudos for lateral thinking though on Vanstone. She is very lateral. And nobody else in one trillion years would have suggested her as an outstanding candidate for the role of AFL CEO. I can go to sleep happy tonight I saw something I truly did not expect to see on here today. 😱

My vote is someone who has actually played the game. That would be a good starting point. Gale would be lead candidate. He has done good things at Richmond.

Julie Bishop is an abject moron.
You obviously know absolutely nothing about her at all.

How has participation increased when clubs have dissapeared in the metro ares and the bush? The only thing that has gone up is his and the boys club bonus

-100% Credibility

take the blinkers off there, for a sports CEO these figures are pretty damn good.

If you've read anything - and this includes information from SA and WA annual reports which show increased participation, thats simply not true across the board. Sure in some areas things have gone pear shaped, but the broader picture says something different.

Let's hope the appointment is from outside the AFL and club land.

It needs a big change, fully transparent on all issues, maybe have all meetings streamed, that way you also get rid of any leaks, no job for Caro and Barrett then either.

Bishop, Gillard, Sally Capp would really jolt the whole place and instead of cheap fluff, we might actually get some action.

Keep Eddie and Jeff as far away as possible, they're dinosaurs of backroom deals that was ok in the 90s but we are passed that

Just look at the state of grassroots football, clubs are on their knees throughout even Victoria, Tasmanian football hasn't been thought of, Sa footy has dropped off, NSW and Qld are still the same, all we have is a private school system which leads to AFL growing, why aren't people continuing to participate after they're a certain age junior, once they get told there no further pathways to AFL. It seems this admin is keen to have players drafted via the private school system to AFL, with a second tier comp and they don't care about the rest, as more people will watch afl and attend games, Australian rules footy is not built on a college football system, it's built on grassroots comp, where it's an avenue for communities to socialise, demitrou and Gil are ruining the social fabric of our game

Clubs wont support anyone outside the AFL system.

No league body is going to be full transparent.

yes in some places clubs are going down - this isnt entirely the AFls fauly - they arent a jobs program for rural Australia either. However the club data nationally is up every year, whether sourced from the AFL, SANFL or WAFC.

Hoping for an ex player/someone who actually cares about the game rather than a businessperson who only cares about $$$.
How many ex players have the business experience to be the CEO of a billion dollar industry?

It needs to go to a competent business person that hopefully has a fan first approach to the game.
