Re: Nilma Darnum V Cora Lynn Sat 12-9-2009 at Cora Lynn

I reckon the league would be very suss about it. So does it mean he played cora lynn 2's on saturday and VFL on the sunday?

We wanted to put hutchy on the team sheet when he went to ireland to play cricket in case he came back early and the league said no.
Ask hutchy about Brad Remy leo can you 70 odd run's in 4 over's from hutchy's 4 opening over's.Think he went out in the 9th over.

Think your speaking crap hear cos I played in the game, Remy slapped us around a bit but didnt make 70 in 9 overs. No where near it. He smashed fairbank more than hutchy. Stamp came on and remy had no idea against spin at got him out shortly after, then some other spud made 50 in about 70 overs and cried cos hutcho sledged him in B grade! And we passed your score easily.

Maybe ask Remy about this year then when Fairbank hit him the head with a bouncer then going out next over.

haha i was there that day and it was one of the funniest things i have seen. He was gobbing off all day that he should be repected cause of what he did one game at nyora 3 years ago. Then he tried to dance fairy only to be hit in the head with a ripper delivery and had to spend the rest of the day with ice on his head.

About being dropped for a grand final, Luke Ferg in 2007 played every game only to be dropped for the Senior GF. It was for Brad Francis and the GF was won by 120 points. so u could argue that it wasnt needed but with out his presence the game could have been completely different.

In hindsight should of they still dropped Luke, yeah probably.

What did he make?.Didnt hutchy say im not bowling anymore until he goe's out.Maybe a score of 65 sound ok leo.Didnt Fairbank hit him in the lip if it got him in the head it wouldnt have done any damaged. He is a differant cat leo.

Re: Nilma Darnum V Cora Lynn Sat 12-9-2009 at Cora Lynn

he is a weird unit!! that has nothing on reverends innings against merinda park. brought up his hundred in the 9th over. susprised he didnt bring that up, because i have not stopped hearing about it since it happened.

What grade ?

B grade at merinda park, the fat ass hit a ton of 38 balls I think. Took 20 off the second over of the match. Have a read about it.

Remy did slap us around, but hutcho kept bowling. He hit him for a few fours but fairy took more of the smashing. Hutch was captain, bought a spinner on and he went out quickly after that. Very different cat he is, one of the top 5 cleanest hitters i have played with or against i reckon, prob should make more runs with his ability.

It seems movements on the SMCA front have settled down, and other than Stuart Anderson now taking over the Ian Wrigg role (I know you will love being compared to good old Toeball, I just wanted some revenge after the comment about my jaw getting sore) of harassing Ronaldson by ringing him 3 times a week, it appears there is not much going on.

So, now that we seem to have a pretty good idea of who is going to be playing where, what are the predictions for the year?

I reckon the final 4 will go back to the old firm, Stratford, Bundy, College and Maffra.

Hard to split at this stage, until we see how good Maffra's pom is and exactly which one of their bowlers stick around and are able to play this year. They will always make runs, however, this may be hampered this year, with a rumor that Bretty Lanigan has to have a titanium knee fitted. Again, Maffra will be led by the mercurial Adrian Burgiel, who is capable of not only scoring runs, but turning out match winning bowling performances, so, the losses of Olsten and Magnuson (potentially) may be offset by an increased workload for Burgiel and Durrant.

Over at Stratford, we have bolster our bowling stocks with the inclusion of Jie Van Berkel and this probably turns us into the most complete and versatile bowling attack, with Jie and myself to bowl spin, and fast bowling stocks including Simon Williams, Jack Tatt, Simon Waixel, Luke Maguire and Adam Phillips. We then have the experienced Andrew Tatt swinging balls around corners, and ready to take his regular 20 wickets or so. Battingwise, we will be weakened without Mick Roberts and Didge Aurisch, however, the inclusion of Jason Bruce, and the fact that we made the finals last year with Me, Trav and Nugget making 49 runs for the year between us shows that there is plenty of scope to improve there. If Jack Tatt continues to improve with the bat, and 2 of Me, Travis or Nugget are able to step up and make 300 runs for the year, I would think we will be pretty hard to beat.

Bundy are going to be the big improvers of the year. Any side that adds Nathan King and Markus Trescothic to it is going to come into calculations for finals cricket. Generally they have not had too many problems taking wickets in recent times, but posting good totals has been an issue. This will certainly be helped by the above 2 inclusions and a full season from Bucky Fowler. Add Buddah Massey to that mix, and the runs shouldn't be a problem now, with King, obviously being a massive addition to the bowling stocks, Bundy could finish anywhere from 1 - 4 you would think. Hard to see them missing out. The unknown quantity could be Jason Morrison, as to whether he will play in Melbourne or stay at Bundy seems to be a mystery, he could be the X factor that decides whether they finish 4th or 1st.

College are being talked about as the side who are going to drop off this year, however, a side with Stuart Anderson leading the bowling, and a still potent batting line up is always going to be there and there abouts. The loss of King and Trethowan will mean that Jack Moore, Matt Foster and Ben Hurley will have to take the mantle and convert their starts into big scores, and Sam Morelli will need to step up from a lower order all rounder to a middle order batsmen. Ronaldson taking the bowlers on at the top of the order could be handy, however, it is still unclear what the big fella has planned for his summer. If Mitch Davis plays a full year uninjured, he could be a bolter for the Team of the Year, as with King gone, and Henderson facing a potential case of second year blues and Mark Nicholls (who I know reads this forum) bowling those outswingers so slowly that they nearly go backwards, Davis could have a lot of overs to bowl.

The rest:
Sale - for mine will be big improvers. Potential ins from last year include:
Nat Campbell - who may well turn out to be the best spinner in a league filled with fairly good depth in this department,
Chris Aurisch - who I would think is the most improved batsmen in the league after last year going to CW and getting into the Team of the Year,
A Pom - lets hope for Sale's sake he is better than Cockbain.
Add to that, Steve Parry, Luke Klasen, Wombat Anderson and there is the start of a better side being formed at Sale. The loss of Jason Bruce could be telling, as top order runs can be hard to find, and Bruce has been good for 200 - 300 in most years since he moved to Sale from Stradbroke.

R-K - Haven't heard anything other than Adam Vale is under a cloud due to a health issue. The big fella is rumored to be bowling right arm. Other than that, no recruits that have been publicised. Have Davidson, the Scott brothers and Ro Diamond improved enough to make up for the older brigade slowing up a step? Will Vale's loss be too big a hole to cover? I would think a slide down the ladder is on the cards unless the kids can step up.

Wurruk - Who knows? The list of potential recruits has included T Ron, some guy who is mates with Al Campbell, every Sale City player to have ever played A, B or C grade for the club and half of the Alberton Cricket League. As to who will actually turn out for the Toads, who knows? With 2 overseas players, Wurruk may well improve, however, the overseas players are generally a gamble. No matter what they have done back home, there are no guarantees when they get out here. Different conditions can mean it takes time to adjust, and with half of the playing list over the age of 35, time is one thing Wurruk do not have. I am going to hold off making an predictions on Wurruk, as who knows who will or won't turn out for them.

Briag - Not much talk out of Briag, however, without the internet or telephone lines, this is understandable (I'm sure you Briag readers can take this comment as light heartedly as it is intended). Richard Hughes has been appointed coach, and with his knowledge and experience, should help to organise and structure the Briag lineup. With Noble and Bolton having had career years last year, if they suffer a slump, it could be a long year for the BB, however, if they can continue their form, Jase Phillips can bowl as well as everyone in the league knows he can, and Toby Leeds and Nicollback continue to develop into the quality players they seem to be becoming then this could be a promising year for the club.

with all the talk of the smca and where teams are going to finsh i wondered if anyone had opinions on the warragul and district and where teams will finish and their recruits????

Magnuson is playing, the rumour is maffra are trying to persuade a young keeper from within area to the club, to cover the loss of lanigan who looks set to build upon his three wickets he took at dowling shield bowling wrong'uns.

Apparently Macreadie and Justin Emery are intending to play this year, at what level and how much i am not sure but both would be valuable for RK.

If the murmurings are true Ronaldson may not play cricket, in favour of going to SA for football...but who knows Mayhem may...
