Confirmed. Bairnsdale saying it wasn't a "sacking" but Ford didn't willingly walk away from the job so I'm not sure what else you can call it. Was signed up mid-season last year for seasons 2012-2013 and Bairnsdale will now be coached by club icon Mel George (who I think has currently been coaching the thirds if I'm not mistaken?) for the rest of the season as the search for a new coach begins immediately.

Redlegs obviously thought these last few thrashings were unacceptable, and maybe some of the decisions Ford made as head coach were a but iffy. I know that bringing in 3 Under 18's to go with the 3 or 4 kids that were already playing for the Dales in the Moe clash recently (a game Bairnsdale people thought was an easy victory) wasn't too pleasing for the members and officials.

That says it all Bairnsdale were abysmal ,reminds me of the results of their games just before they decided to pull the pin in the 90's ,Sale are good but not as good as they looked on Saturday although it is a long time since i have seen such an acomplished back 6 as they have at the moment ,(Quirk ,Pendlebury ,Fyfe ,Dessent ,Wallace ,Laverty as a sweeper) and they still have Todd to slot back in there in the next couple of weeks, yeah they are going to take some tossing but Leongatha didn't look far away last Saturday night and Morwell are notching up some impressive wins also so anything could happen.
Not as good as they looked on Saturday night???????????? Ya cant do much more than beat a side by some 180 odd points. You have to be good enough to set up your system and actually kick straight.
If Sale had managed just 1 more goal against Leongatha they would have doubled Leongatha's score!
They have the best f/forward in the comp, the best ruck combo and as you said, a supreme defence that launches uncountable forward thrusts. They would have to be high on anyones list of potential premiers.

High on the list??? They would have to stuff something up majorly to not win the flag, as no one is good enough to beat them!!

Yeah fu$%ed that post up i meant to say that Bairnsdale made them look virtually unbeatable on SUNDAY not Saturday .I do still think that Leongatha are in with a real show given finals conditions and a dry day ,but this is as good a Sale side as i've ever seen and i can remember the 73' Grand Final so i've seen a few. They've got good height all over the ground particularly in defence.Be interesting to see whether they keep playing the younger guys through the finals campaign although i can't see any reason why not given Walker and young Dunkley's form they would easily be in the best 22 at the club.

I think "Sacking" is a very appropriate term for what has happened there. When a club reneges on it's agreement with a coach after thirteen weeks of a two year deal, there are obviously some issues at play.

Ford has stuck by his plan as discussed with the club before his signing, to play local kids and develop a side over time. The club were very much in favour of this method and he had their full backing. Maybe some of the mid-level players saw a limited future at the club due to improving youngsters? Maybe the committee panicked? Maybe the club, instead of looking to the future and attempting to build a successful team and culture, will now remain where it is and eventually move back to being a very big fish in a very small pond?

Definitely a sacking. I am told that Ford is not the kid of bloke to walk out on a job and effectively admit defeat.

I am under the impression Ford was instructed to play young blokes including several thirds on a regular basis. It was part of the proposal that he and the Club agreed on in the first place with at least a two year plan in mind. They were accepting of it in the beginning and wildly supportive of it when they beat the reigning premier early in the year!

However, when you play 5,6 or 7 kids on a regular basis against quality opposition or simply blokes that have played 50 - 100 games of high level footy, you are more than likely going to lose. No matter whether that side be Sale or Moe.

As hinted, perhaps the Club hierarchy decided that despite giving the direction in the first place, that this was no longer an option. That the Club wanted to win games of footy and simply hope that the rest will look after itself. If that was the case, the 10 goal loss to Wonthaggi at the weekend didn't do too much to stem the tide. With games against Traralgon [away], Morwell and then Maffra [away] in the next three weeks, don't think it matters who is coaching - they're not about to win any of them.

Following a pre season of very little external recruiting [read Cam Streeter and Dave Waddell] and limited from the EGFNL [read Bayden Ashwood and Xavier Ryan], the direction had to be kids as the Club didn't provide any other players for the coach to utilise.

Somewhere along the line, the message got mixed up. Remains to be seen how [and if] they can fix it.

When they go back into the EGFL in the next 2 - 3 years, will all their players return, or stay with their affiliate clubs?

Could someone please explane to me how Moe can be Bottom of the ladder in the Seniors, Reserves & Thirds ?
Best facilities and playing surface in Gippsland & great lighting .
Only 3 or 4 seasons ago Seniors ,reserves & thirds all played finals.
What sort of direction is that ? I would suggest big changes made to the people running the club.
Hopfully new people with new ideas .

Think it might be something to do with the fact that the seniors lost a few key players over the summer, the reserves had a few key personnel retire or move away and the club has just gotten the thirds back on the park after missing a season. Pretty sure they will mostly be down-age kids.

Their ladder positions dont tell the full story. They have cleaned up the 30 year old problem with the junior teams in the CGJFL and now both remaining teams are playing under the Moe banner (Blues and Maroons) and will naturally funnel straight into the 4ths which has not been the case over the years that they were Moe City and Moe Saints. The unprecedented senior club involvement will be invaluable in 10 years time.

Starting at the bottom is the best thing this club has done in 50 years. Sure, it wont bare fruit tomorrow but it will eventually and the faithful can see it and will just have to wait. They have had some top AFL executives involved in pointing the club in the right direction. Good things are happening. Just not on the scoreboard yet.

Just having those kids training on the ground and playing 6 or so home games there is a massive bonus for the club.

It starts at the bottom, Tomm. Just my observations.

Well thats good news that the Juniors are under the Moe Banner. Befor the upgrade sections of that ground was a swamp, so good to see it now accommodates the junior training and games. Dont really understand why the juniors wouldn't have funneled into the senior club in the past.
This still doesn't explain why in 3 seasons the club has gone from finals contender in the seniors, reserves and thirds to bottom of the ladder in all 3 grades. Why have the players moved on ? Surly you can sort your juniors out without winning the wooden spoon in all three grades. I hope for the sake of the Moe Footy Club that the AFL executives magic wand brings the club some success. Is good to see Jason Shields involved.

Confirmed.
Interesting move by Traralgon, don't think anyone picked that one.
Morwell appointed Harmit Singh - by all reports a handy midfielder and a good coaching talent coming from a strong league.
Bairnsdale - will Shaun Mooney get the gig up there? Word is he wants it but they are looking for someone better
Wonthaggi - anyone know what the go is over there????
Have Drouin found one? few leaving from what I hear

I didn't know Mooney was leaving Corowa-Rutherglen and returning to Gippy... I was thinking maybe Brenton Martin or even Dean Polo.
Wonthaggi - rumour is that Paul Brosnan is returning
Drouin - no idea

Is this the same bloke that played Collingwood VFL?
He must have developed a bit over the last few years.

brenton martin is going to lucknow
Think he is already there, mate. Saw some photos on BF. They won the flag and he got best on.
