Another experiment from the Dons. Goddard has played some great games in his career, and he had a awesome 2010 finals series, but he's clearly performed below expectations since then. He will be no saviour.
Essendon's list is ordinary and has been for some time. They have tried new coaches and fitness staff but things still haven't really changed because the fact remains that they have a few good players, with one absolute gun, and that's it. Unless the majority of the Essendon list pull the finger out and actually improve next year, I can't see this being a hugely successful move. BJ might return to his previous form, but it won't matter if the team is only able to string together half a season.

And how would you know how much money he is on? You can't come to any conclusions without being privy to all the facts.

He will rotate through the middle and imo would make an excellent winger.
He's played his best footy in the midfield.

He can be seriously negated by a hard tag.
Teams aren't going to let him run around unattended, and it's not like he's is going to get off the hook because of a vastly superior midfield.
Will not boo. He's about to be an opposition player so I will have equal disdain for him as I do for any other member of the enemy, but no more.
I would have been happy to keep him but if Essendon want to give him a lot more money for a longer contract term then we'll take pick 13 and run.

He averaged 2.5 clearances and 8.2 contested possessions in 2012.
That ranks him around 100 as a ball winning midfielder!

Bombers need genuine midfielders and another 3-4 would be ideal. It's not that Goddard is a 'bad' player, it just seems odd to be throwing huge numbers at a player who doesn't ideally solve some of your list problems.

One of the most taggable players in recent memory... simply can't handle the midfield as every club is all over it. Whinges and cries like a baby when put under physical pressure.
Waiting for the Prosecutor to give his opinion on where Goddard will play, which apparently isn't off half back. Don't think he has the balls.

You're a pathetic joke, champ. You haven't even had the balls to respond to my previous posts which dispelled your petulant arguments.
At the moment at least 700k isn't that expensive for Essendon due to lots of average players getting payed some pretty good coin. If Essendon can front load the contract then hopefully it doesn't affect us in the future.

HTB, In fairness, I think TP heaped you in with the massive Essendon negativity in this thread.
He fills a void in our list for experienced players - particularly with the retirement of McVeigh, and the likelyhood of Hille and Fletch only lasting one more year. Goddard is a life member of a football club, has played in winning finals teams and participated in multiple grand finals.

It's cap space, something we have lots of. We don't have to give up anything else for him. This isn't really that expensive.
First part is correct.
Second part needs to be made singular. As far as I know Goddard only constitutes one footballer.
