Also, we’ve taken the foot off big time this quarter. Still keeping a buffer, but still things to work on defensively.
Isn't that one of our biggest problems at the senior level, though? All the good work we do around the ground isn't being capitalised on when we line up for goal.
Yes, it is. But another problem is a stagnant forward line that aren’t threatening or moving or creating space. I think, currently, Sexton is more of a threat than some of our other smalls, like Ainsworth or Rosas right now.

That play by Sexton is a perfect example. Gets separation, leads up to the 50 line, then kicks to the advantage of Berry going forward. I just think our forward line is lacking a bit of experience and forward craft in the main team. But I get the problems with Sexton so I’ll leave it at that.

Turns out it’s fun watching a good footy team.

Unless one of the smalls kick a bag this afternoon, Sexton needs to be in the team. It’s not like any of our forwards are offering enough in any facet for Sextons deficiencies to be keeping him out.

And I know it’s a lesser level, but it’s clear the AFL team needs to be allowed to loosen up. They look so confused and rigid not knowing what they are supposed to be doing, trying to play an exact way that just doesn’t suit their strengths. Farrar, Hollands, Jeffrey, Sexton playing with freedom and on instinct makes us a far better football team and honestly probably fixes the incommunication between midfield and the forward line if they are playing how they know instead of half running, half calling for a bomb.

Atkins and sexton the two really putting their names forward for selection.
So neither will be picked, or one named as an emergency…

Atkins I understand, as he is fighting Ellis/Weller/Powell and I wouldn’t drop any of them right now. But Sexton is fighting some players well down on form and could take their place next week.

Don’t be fooled by Atkins stats. He squibbed 2 contests today that looked horrible.
Daicos does that every week, and i hear he might win a Brownlow…

In all seriousness, I’d actually love us to get more uncontested ball anyway. Sounds like Atkins could be just guy!

My kids made the same comment minus the douche bit
What do you do?
He’s getting paid 2 or $300,000 a year for being an arse hat
Like I said
Scrimshaw Mk2

Saw him do the Aaron Hall special burning 2 teammates inside 50 to spray yet another shot on goal. Get it if he doesn't wanna be here but playing selfish becomes habit quickly.

Are you serious? North finally lifted contest but we still controlled the game despite playing without recognised rucks and Anderson was rested in 2nd half. BTW North had also a lot of AFL players (17 if I remember correctly).
We lost the second half against an average team, and we've stacked our team with mature aged bodies as our kids play in the 1s. I think we have different standards

Watched this game. Im not that interested in the journeymen, i focus on the future

I think bohdi uwlands is an AFL player. Hes composed, he tackles hard, he kicks long and hits targets. Id be playing him in the 1's in a back pocket every week

I also thought Academy kid Corbett covered a heap of ground and was really creative with handball in a lot of score chains.

Have to credit Burgess who battled fantastically in the ruck all day probably BOG for collosal work rate, selflessness (rare in the 2's) and ticker.

I’d like to see Uwland not always look long down the line though. He’s very good at the kick/mark type strategy, but could maybe open the game up at times if he had a bit more poise or quicker decision making.

Reckon he can keep adding to his choices with ball in hand and then be ready for a call-up when he gets his chance. Him and Budders will be competing for the spot next year.

Still a lot to learn for Uwland but his approach to game is impressive. I am pretty sure the club considers him also a midfielder down the track.

Uwland is essentially still a first year player after not playing a single game at any level in 2022. Definitely showing signs of AFL quality but I'd like him to continue his development in the VFL for now after getting a taste of AFL action last month. Keep building form in the 2s and his chance will come later down the line.

True, but very few have a full toolbox.

uwlands is courageous, has composure, a raking kick and an overhead game.

Improved decision making will come, but hell probably never be a caleb daniel field kick.

the flipside is very few of the half-back elite ball users will ever fold blokes in half with tackles like our kid can. D.rioli is probably the exception.

I hear what youre saying and of course we all want every kid to overcome all shortcomings,

But the reality is, even the 250 game champs have flaws, or at least things theyre not great at.

Bont cant kick a set shot. Dusty doesnt tackle. Pendlebury is slow. Buddy cant take an overhead mark. Cripps has never really worked out hes not playing rugby league.
