I thought we lost that on multiple occasions. We did our best to mess it up, but held on in the end. We’re in the top 8!

Bowes & Sexton with direct unpressured turn-overs deep in the last not inspiring. They're meant to be leaders at this level, but we got across the line. Finals still on.

That Burgess kick at the end was something crazy. Hope desperately that we can hold onto him & Corbett, but wouldn't surprise to see both look for more opportunity.

Embarrassing form from Southport. This VFL team isn't a normal one - they're all guys that have spent decent time on AFL lists. They should be much better than that. We've got some very good VFL players surrounded by QAFL kids.
They were pretty dominate most of the season. Last few weeks though, not so much

Nice to see one of our teams will be playing finals this year. Beat North Melbourne next week and we'll probably get a home final.
possibly, the VFL in the past have locked in grounds for finals which have resulted in teams not playing finals at home. Port Melbourne is used quite a bit for finals

Was he sub in any games?
Because even if you don’t play it’s counted as playing
At least we can play hollands & Andrew
If the maximum is 12 AFL games, then we only have a small handful of players to keep playing in finals that weren’t already in the VFL team.

Other players to come back in:
Flanders (8)
MacPherson (9)

Luko (12) (but will play next week)
Sharp (12) (may play next week)

There could be a few others, but I think that is it at a quick glance.

Unfortunately players like Fiorini, Farrar, Rosas or Davies have all played a couple too many games.

I would hope they give us home state advantage should we finish inside the top 6 considering it's our first ever VFL finals appearance. Even playing in Brisbane before/after a Lions game would be advantageous for us.

It definitely helps that 3 of the 8 teams in this year's VFL finals will be from Queensland, with both Brisbane and Southport likely to finish in the top 4. If we finish in the top 6 then I would suggest there will likely be a double header at Metricon involving our reserves and the Sharks.

That means the players who were named in the AFL team this week that are eligible to play VFL finals this year are:

Mac Andrew (3)
Sam Day (4)
Elijah Hollands (4)
Sam Flanders (8)
Darcy Macpherson (9)

And if Lukosius (12) gets rested or plays 2s next week then he can also play in the VFL finals campaign. I think we all know Luko is going to play in the AFL next week so we can pretty safely rule that out.

marlin corbett was very good in the heat of the last 5 minutes yesterday. Time-on, 4 points up, young corbett drops the southports ruckman to win HTB, then wills himself to a contest and kills the ball on the wing. Tough kid. Young faulkhead and moyle really stayed in the kitchen too
Sounds Marlin Corbett could be worth picking up at season's end.

Welcome to the Suns Chip! James Frawley will make his (VFL) debut for us tomorrow after being named on the interchange. That's potentially a big in for us and who knows where things will go from here. If Chip impresses then perhaps a discussion will had about being added to our rookie list for a year while we wait for our key defenders to develop. Will he be eligible to play for us in the VFL finals or is that not allowed?

Interesting that Brinn Little made the side after being invited to take part in the National Combine earlier this week. Hopefully the young fella does well.

We play first tomorrow at 10:30am so that means we'll jump up to 5th on the ladder with a win over the Kangas and that guarantees finals action for our 2s. Then we just need either the Swans reserves to beat Box Hill later tomorrow (likely) or the Carlton reserves to beat the Collingwood reserves on Sunday. If either of those two results occur then we'll get a home final in the first week of the VFL finals.

Why? He played last week too.
Keeping your spot on a VFL team that's on a five-game winning streak and about to clinch a spot in the finals is fairly significant when it's your draft year. How many others are a part of this year's draft class? Just M.Corbett and Eckersley? It's good experience for the tall fella and I'm sure he'll have plenty of eyes on him over the next month in the lead up to the Draft Combine.

The commentator just said in the past the VFL has favoured North Port Oval for VFL finals matches but this year they are going to try their hardest to give home ground advantages for the first three weeks of the finals. That means Brisbane, Southport, Sydney and us (if we win today) will host VFL finals this year. Fantastic news. Now let's get the W!

Boys are off the a bit of a slow start at the moment. Burgess kicked the first goal of the game but we've conceded two since then.

As usual, our inability to hit targets is costing us. Tidy that up and Suns are well on top for most of the quarter.

We have Corbett and Burgess but our kicks rarely favour them.

Few players just need to take their time instead of rushing it to boot. We work too hard for our possessions.

Jack Bowes just ripped Taryn Thomas' jumper off in one tackle attempt! 😂

Bowesy got the holding the ball decision from it, sucked a 50 metre penalty out of it and finished with a goal. Great play Bowesy!
