Mizzys are great clubs. Almost as good as Miuras. I've had my current irons for around 3 and a half years. No need to change but I've been wanting to spend some money and have 400 in vouchers.

Now that I'm no longer saving for a holiday I'm looking to change a few things in my bag.

Want to replace my old crappy fairway wood. It'll be mainly used hitting off the deck on par 4's and par 5's so I'm thinking maybe something with a little more loft so it's more forgiving. Any recommendations? Still on a budget so happy to look second hand.

Currently in my bag
- Driver
- 3 wood
- 3 hybrid (either need to remove or get different shaft as I cant hit it off deck)
- 5 hybrid
- 3-P irons (happy to get rid of 4 iron, only use 3 for getting out of trouble)
- SW (want to eventually get some new wedges too)
- Putter

Get a set of wedges, scores are made within 100 of the green.

The ability to up and down is GOLD.

In terms of a 3 wood, go to a decent golf course and chat with the pro then hit as meny demo 3 woods as you can.

You'll find something

Slow swing speed & don't hit the ball very long. Reckon I hit a 5 iron 155-160~. Would hope to hit fairway wood 185-200~.

4 wood really sounds like a good option.

IMO for most guys I see, they have little to no accuracy with their 3 wood and just smash away into a hazard. I have a slow swing as well. I use the 4 wood off the tee to layup from hazards on par 4s and play for position.

I reckon I can punch a running hybrid further than I could reliably hit my 4 wood off the deck.

I have more control off the tee with my driver than my 3 wood at the moment.

My golfing mate and I also have a rule. On all par 3's the furthest from the pin has the skoll a full beer. I need a club I can hit confidently on the 190m par 3 to put some pressure on him :D:beermug:

I've gone ahead an ordered an Adams Tight Lies fairway wood after researching online. A lot have recommended it as an easy club to hit, especially off the fairway. 16* regular shaft and ordered it up brand new for a really good price.

Once it arrives it'll replace my 3 wood and 3 hybrid. Keeping my eye out on a pair of wedges, thinking maybe 52* & 56* is a good place to start.

Adams have a good name with their hybrids and rescue type clubs. I think Taylormade bought them out because of this.

I'd imagine a few on here would carry two hybrids. Just wondering what make/model and lofts they're rocking.
Cheers.

Nice. I wouldn't mind some mizuno irons, just something different to what I've got atm would be good. I'm just getting back into golf a bit and need to update my prehistoric irons..Rams.

I picked up a set (quite the mixture) off of gumtree not too long back for $150. Came with a Ping G15 driver, Adams tight Lies 3 wood, Taylormade R5 5 wood, a Tour Special 7 wood and hybrid, Ping craz-e putter and irons - only 7,9,P&S -they're Ping G15's, but yellow dot, which is too upright for me. Plus a Taylormade bag, it's a bit older but ok.

Where do you play?

Nowhere special. Just a couple basic country courses. I'm not a member and haven't sussed a handicap or anything. Would be a pretty high handicap, that I do know. Wanting to maybe get a lesson or two and get some good consistency.

In Vic or SA?

Would love to know your opinion on the Adams tight Lies 3 wood considering I just purchased one.

So mine is a bit of an older model, not sure which year, but it's a nice looking club. My swing needs a lot of improvement, but if u get it good it will fly, if u don't..go searching. It's R flex, and I'm pretty sure my swing is more suited to S, so I'll prob replace it at some point.
