Why is that mate?
The variety of challenges. LK asks everything of you. Good driving, good short game, how to handle wind, how to handle elevation changes. RA is flatter but requires a huge array of shots. Both courses are challenging in any weather.
Lost Farm only has wind as a defence. Fairways are huge, most approaches are fairly straight forward. If the wind is up the course is tricky no doubt. Most of the holes run the same way.
Not as demanding as its ranking suggests.

Played a couple of top 25 courses the last two weeks. Barwon Heads and St Andrews Beach.

Both are excellent but in winter Barwon Heads would have to be the best conditioned course in Australia. Drains superbly and the turf is consistently tight and firm. And the greens are absolutely sublime. People swoon about Pure Distinction greens but the poa surfaces at BH have been consistently superb for the the last 25 years I've been visiting. It's a lovely elegant routing with seamless green to tee walks.

St Andrews Beach is also excellent at the price point and has a million thrilling drives. Personally I'm not all in on the multitude a blind/semi blind shots on offer and it's a genuinely tough walk. It's still high end golf however and lunch at the St Andrews Beach brewery is a great way to cap a round.

Personally I have Barwon on top.

I'm a member at Royal Hobart and just out of curiosity, I was wondering if our feature recently in one of the golf magazines had piqued any firm interest in coming to Hobart as part of any golf trips to Tassie? Asking as an interested member.

I plan to be there in December.

Circulation numbers are very poor for AGD and GA magazines. I would not expect much of an uptick based on a $5-10k advertorial spend in one of them.

Better bang for your buck to get in with the tour operators. Golf Select etc. And improving your branding on socials/other online platforms.

What stage is the course restoration plan at?

Restoration has stopped due to Covid. What was started has been completed though.

Ideally you'd be doing all you can to complete the renovations around the same time as the anticipated 7 Mile Beach opening and try to get some of their traffic (which will be very significant).
