He does this whenever he tries for a high free kick (lowers his body and lifts his arm). I reckon it's cos he's embarrassed that he tried it and needs to make it look serious. Really annoying
He throws himself into danger, and his toughness is not questioned.

He also deliberately plays for high frees and goes down like Danger in the 17 prelim. The umpires have stopped paying them so much now.

I haven't sat in riverbank much but was there last night. What struck me the most was our complete unwillingness to take the game on. Our lack of desire to change angles, honour the short lead, go through the corridor and work to provide options was actually shocking.

GWS continually ran the angles, provided options, honoured thos options and put team mates into space. We continually kicked to contests and used handball only to get out of trouble.

It seemed to me were were petrified of letting the game open up, for fear of being torched on the counter. Either a strategic, conscious decision to play that way, or our players have lost all confidence. Either way, we aren't going to win many more games if we don't revert to aggressive ball movement, which has been the trademark of our wins.

The Crows never let me down or make me any happier, after a win or loss I feel exactly the same and move on with my week. I’m already over that loss tonight and watching the tennis.
Around 5.30p.m. September 26th 1998: Adelaide Crows win 2 in a row, in great comeback over NM.

BACCS (BigFooty Juggernaut): "Meh. What else is on TV, now?".

The umpiring was poor but we let it get to us. Too much looking to the umpire, hands out, querying decisions. Seemed frustrated

I remember thinking this years ago when the pulling the ball in when on the ground became HTB. Players started appealing for frees and I feared we'd end up like cricket where decisions aren't made without an appeal. It's not quite thst bad, but we've moved a long way towards it.

I don’t reckon that changes the game result but agree we need to see him in there at the important stages.
Our lack of pace and a few of our blokes that get games on effort (Murph, Butts, Keays) all make critical errors at crucial times.
Murphy courageously taking Rankine out of a marking contest late running back with the flight, Butts hitting the pack as third man in - pretty well missing the ball and crashing into Murray - obviously Keays late inside 50 kick

When the heat goes up those mistakes cost goals and close games

Seriously what is with that - small players going for a mark that belongs to another player. It shows zero awareness - a small forward should be at the bottom to take the crumbs if they eventuate.

We have a few dumb footballers in our side.

Now lets see what changes get pulled this week.

And Sloaney the best thing you can do now is retire gracefully.

If you don’t really care, why does it bother you that some people do?

After this loss, you posted seriously that it wasn’t a big deal because it all was coming out roughly as you guessed in preseason

In effect, as is your right, you don’t really care, at all, and think others shouldn’t either

That’s a very provocative stance
Heeee's baaaa-aaaack!!! (and in fine fettle, too :winkv1:)

I walked away from that game with one clear thought - we are a dumb Football club. DUMB. Like this dumb:
dumb and dumber thread GIF

Just without the laughs.

Some clearly DUMB issues:

  • We have used less players this year than Collingwood, Port or Melbourne. They are top 4 and we are meant to be rebuilding...
  • We are a rebuilding side that has decided to throw any sense of development out the window in pursuit of a finals position.
  • We don't develop in the SANFL. Playing Crouch, Brown etc... all the midfield minutes is just stupid. No-one gives a shit if we win SANFL games.
  • Continuously giving games to guys that are closer to delisting than developing (Rowe last year, Murphy, Sholl etc)
  • Refusing to pick the best performing young guys in the SANFL until forced due to injury (Worrell last year and this year, Nankervis this year)
  • Continuously thinking we can go into games with one key defender, despite losing these games repeatedly.
  • ROB thinking he is a forward, running into the forward line and clogging it up. All he achieves is making certain we have no chance of marking the ball. None. He's not going to mark it and even if he did, he's a 0.5% chance of kicking the goal. He did this repeatedly last night. He also managed to clog up the one clear lead McAdam had by running into the space. Utter stupidity.
  • If Tex is going to take the ruck in the F50, why the actual F does ROB stand 5 m away? What is he going to do there? Get him a kick behind the ball where he might actually have some use!
  • We have been calling for an extra key defender on the list for a while, but have recruited none. Stupidity.
  • It's clear we need a developing ruck. Yet we simply refuse to pick one. Why? Do we really think ROB is irreplaceable?
  • What we have done to Soligo this year is utter neglect. Played midfield and looked good early - subbed out, then completely pushed out of midfield rotations. He's not in need of a rest, he's in need of playing his best position.
  • Sloane was cooked before his last knee injury. It was clear he wasn't any good in preseason, but sure enough he's picked for round 1. He eventually has a good last quarter here and there and we decide he's set to be a full time mid. Despite weeks of evidence he's no longer up to it, we persist. Utter stupidity.
  • Milera's defensive work is an utter liability, yet he is untouchable.
  • Smith is going backwards at a rate of knots, yet he is untouchable.
  • Jones hits form, is really starting to play great football on the wing, so we move him to defence at the first chance possible.
  • We recruit Dawson as a half back and are happy to let other teams drag him to full back repeatedly. Dawson has to TELL the coaches to move him to the midfield. How dumb are the coaches?
  • 5 years of rebuild and we have drafted not one top end midfielder. Not one. Astonishing.
  • Our next trade target? Another half back flanker. FMD.
  • Roo.
I'm sure I could go on and on with more examples.

Normally I get behind the forwards when we lose, but they had more than enough opportunities tonight and were just soundly beaten. Pedlar, Rachele and Rankine combined for 1 goal. Fog and TT had zero aerial presence i50. Their defence is super strong.

anyone who thought spending 5 on a small forward has NFI about footy. Unfortunately, Nix is chief among them. FFS, put him in the middle and get Sloand the F out of there.

Nicks was relying on them and it has literally blown up in his face.

No need for early contract extensions next year, he can wait till years end. No other club will be after his services.
The hilarious thing is, it was the kids who got us into a finals making position earlier in the season. Nicks has shown that he just doesn't trust them and if I was Soligo or Berry or Harry or Rash, I'd be starting to get pretty pissed off about it.

It's called: Mark of the Year Syndrome.
Eddie had it, but he had Champion credits.
McAdam's got it; needs help.
Now lets see what changes get pulled this week.
That's hilarious. Sardonic Post of the Thread.

Another obvious thing.

Management of young/old players and the sub role. They’ve all hit the wall at the same time. Why not a bit of proactive management as the season wears on so we don’t get to July and he faced with the choice of resting 8x best 22 players or having them all going at 70%?

McHenry has been sub basically permanently and of his 3 full games has been very good in one, serviceable in another, and poor in one. I still don’t really know whether we should be persisting with him.

Rolling the likes of Soligo, Rachele, Max, Pedlar, Sloane through the sub role from about May onwards would have had the 3x benefit of (1) having a player who could impact as sub, (2) not having all those guys hit the wall at the same time, (3) getting a better look at others on our list.

Nice cop out. There's only about 100 of the in the comp. Contracts mean s**t, just go get one.
I’m keen , no 1 priority

No cop out here

Do think that if Rankine and Fogarty had of done their bit last night we still win

So I want a mid as priority but also players like Redman to take smiths spot etc

It’s not a case of get a mid and solve everything , the whole list needs improvement and more quality experience

It's no coincidence our form has gone backwards the more we have relied on senior players in the midfield
Yep and also the inability of Rachele to get it done in there as season progresses , the kid probably has had enough for year looks super heavy on his legs in last month

Pedlar a year away and we need Berry and Schoenberg getting games

Just need to pick Schoenberg in midfield and play him rest of year IMO

No, they are both similar level.

Atkins is a much better player than Sholl.

Rory actually has a decent kick, a side-step to get around would-be tackles.

Lachlan has a weak kick that regularly misses targets and fades late, while he crumbles at the prospect of an oncoming tackler.
