Our kids in Rachele and Soligo look cooked and Pedlar doesnt have the tank or ability to accumulate yet. There is not much choice right now
If only there was something we could have done about this

Just went through the CBA’s for the year and center clearances
I’ve grouped Rachele, Soligo and pedlar as the young 3 and Laird Keays and Sloane as the old 3, I haven’t worried about Dawson as he is now and should be a main stay (however not a great clearance mid)
Y3 total 309 CBA’s 40 clearances = 13% win rate
O3 total 706 CBA’s 89 clearances = 13% win rate
Best mids in terms of clearances
Pedlar & soligo at 15%
Laird at 14%
Keays at 11%
Rachele & sloane at 10%
Dawson at 7%

Pedlar not introduced until rd 9
Rankine given up on after the first 2 rounds , except for the st kilda game.
O3 have been given twice as many CBA’s as the Y3
As the year has worn on we have preferred the O3 over the Y3
2nd Collingwood game Y3 4 CBA’s to 56
Last night 1 vs 45 *Soligo not playing

Yet Soligo wasn’t allowed near a CBA in the past month

Excellent, I was just looking at the same thing. The trend line skewing to older players attending CBs as the year has worn on is telling.

The drop off from Schoenberg and Berry is a major contribution to this but Schoenberg hasn't been given a full game and been used as the sub and despite performing well against Essendon as the sub he was dropped instead of given a full game. Why? Because Nicks would have had to drop Sloane or move him else where.....

Have you watched the SANFL?

I don’t think Shoenberg or Berry have dropped off as much as people think.

They’re just not getting any reward for their form.

Shoenberg, for all his faults, has been dominant in the sanfl lately but can’t break the single minded selection culture of the AFC.

Berry definitely has dropped off considerably, doesn't have the power to break away from stoppage like last year until last week when he started to show this again. I was very surprise Shoenberg was in the SANFL side when I saw him, thought he displayed enough as the sub last week to get a full game.

Watching him live I see huge diff in his ability to run and sustain it lately compared to earlier in season

Same thing happened last year but happened earlier in year

Hopefully next year he can sustain his form closer to full season as we need his talent
Another preseason and probably even after the next one and he will have the endurance to work with his bulk.

Schoenberg should have been playing last night.

He was good as the sub and good yesterday I the Reserves

Exactly !

It’s not Pedlar or Rachele that should be getting the mid minutes of the seniors ( as they aren’t physically ready)

It’s people like Schoenberg …

He deserves the rest of season in AFL midfield and just wear any negatives as I’m sure it will pay off or at least not be an overall negative compared to what we’re doing now

Berrys last sanfl game showed some good changes in form then unfortunately illness this week

I’d play Schoenberg next week onwards and intro Berry not long after if he can keep it rolling

Who, this Sam Berry? I would suggest that his form has warranted afl selection at times but our inflexible back the boys in selection policy has him locked out.

Ditto Nankervis and Shoenberg.

**** me, if Doedee didn’t do his knee, Worrell would still be playing sanfl!!!

Oh yeah, he totally lost power then magically regained it.

The kid should have played this year, but we prioritised Sloane and Keays.

Have you watched him play in the SANFL outside of last week? Ask anyone who has and they will tell you his form was shit outside of last week he couldn't break from stoppage or tackle which was his strength.

So you don’t think we should be investing afl games in a 21 year old that has shown he has a future at afl level?

Is that you Matthew?
If Berry continues to show the form from like last week then definitely but no-one can argue his form has been very poor up until then. I actually thought he was a big chance of a recall.
