I think the AFL already has its Easter matchup - Gee v Haw. A rivalry that has not been fabricated but has evolved.

It's already been decided. Norf v Ess next year and then Norf v Carlton from then on. Next year starts at Easter so they are going back to the original Carl v Rich game to open the season.
