Goodes is in pretty bad form at the moment. I would not be to upset if he had to miss a game or two.
Bad form? No he is not playing to his usual very high standard but not bad, he has been doing a job whilst not dominating.
That's the fact, once Reid went off Goodes was an easy target for defenders, yet still finished with 3. Seems an ok return although he does look slwer, but that may just be the speed of the younger GC players or a trick of the cameraYep. He's playing like a mortal rather than a god. I wouldn't call it bad form.
He's been hand-balling off way too much. Not so bad last night (only one or two), but the last couple of games at the SCG I remember about 3-4 instances per game that should've been goals, but turned into behinds/turnovers because he's fired off terrible handballs when he should have just had a ping.
It happened again against GC. Early in the game, Goodes and I think TDL were running into an open goal with a defender between them. Goodes tried to attract the defender then flick the handball over the top but the defender anticipated it perfectly but Goodes still went with the handball and the defender managed to stop the goal. Goodes weas obviouslt dirty on himself. But I'd expect a player of Goodes' quality to get that kind of play right, and in the past we could always rely on him to get it right.
It either points to a lack of confidence, or it suggests that Goodes is still carrying some sort of injury that's hindering him from being able to perform at his own standard. So whenever he tries something a little silky, he comes off looking slow or ordinary compared to his opponent. I don't know whether his speed has been affected, but he looks out of touch atm. I hope he recovers soon cause we need him at his best to do damage in the finals, and at present he's merely a bit-part player.
Yep. He's playing like a mortal rather than a god. I wouldn't call it bad form.
Wow... The negativity on here is hurting my eyes... ooooouuucch... it burns it burns!!
He can collect brownlow votes taking a sh*t that's how damn good he is.
I agree he's looked out of touch but what would you expect. He's had the longest layoff from the game he has ever had to endure and is trying to find his feet again.
This reminds me of the calls that Bolts shouldn't play on this year, that he was too slow etc... look at him now proving those who spoke ill of him wrong. As soon as some of our old boys drop off a touch even our own want to call them done & dusted half the time... Sheesh. Put the axes away and bring out the red & white flags people!!!
ending rant....... now.
