What has happened to Rochy, they were one of the premiership favourites at the start of the year and are now in huge danger of missing out as they play Ky this week and Echuca in the last round.

Rochy has lost a bit of height in their backline with Collins playing for the Bendigo Bombers and O'Brien injuring his hand. A few smaller players have to now play key defensive roles, or alternatively move some forwards/onballers back into the backline.

With a tough run home in Ky, Shep and Echuca, they will have to fight to make finals with Mansfield hot on their heels.

Heard on the weekend that Shepp has two former players after the vacant coaching job, Matt Byers and Peter Cardome, would these boys be a good fit for the bears and the big job of getting them back up the ladder, lov to hear your thoughts.

I think they need a coach with a good coaching history, had success at GV level or higher,
As for Peter Carts, has he ever coached before, Matt coached Barooga for a couple of years. What about the GV coach Peter White won a flag at this level, but im not sure about history and his sacking at swans??

On the Murray Thread someone said if Byers doesnt get it he will never go back to the club again.

The coaching spot at Shepparton is a tough one...If they don't get this right this time around they will struggle for the next 10 years...Byers would be a good option he works for himself, he could find the time. Cardamone knows his footy he played over 200 club games for Shepp maybe thats what they need someone to motivate the players. Do Shepp need a playing coach though, Steve Daniels, whats he going to do, Tatura surely will sign him up?

Excuse me for my ignorance, but has Steve Daniels had a falling out at Congupna or something?
Its been a longtime since i have had a look at the GV thread, as it is about as hard to find on here as a needle in a haystack.

Carda coached Congupna for a couple of years in 2000/2001

what a brilliant peice on guy campbell in the GV weekender...nice to read a good story on a true CHAMPION OF THE GAME...what a player. Has there been a better player play for Rochester. Maybe Robbie Miller? Talk to me tigers fans???

No Steve Daniels hasn't had a falling out with Congupna...I hear he's seen the light and decided to move on for personal & business reasons...Why, what have you heard Bazlurhmann?

I have always assumed that cardas bloke is the same bloke who played mainly twos at the bears ?
I suggest if he gets the gig , we should all brace ourselves for an influence of journos taking over coaching reins .
JR at Tat. Underwood at Ky and Wes Cusworth at the Swans . :) :) :)
honestly is this all some deluded joke ?

Byers coaching Shepp is too good to be true. With Quarrell two kicks away down at HT Luck it'd be a reunion of the 2008 MFL grand final twice a season. One of the great wars-of-words and it allegedly inspired a rather unique delivery from the Nathalia butchers to the Barooga Sporites on Mad Monday. Hope the rumours are true!

Obviously you watched United, Mooroopna or the Swans play and never saw the 130 senior games nor the 130 goals at senior level Cardas played for the club over a period of 8 years, you dill MOJOHAWKS...I watched him for a long period of time and he could play...Just ask him:) and he also played 50 2's games for the club before his first 10 senior games...When Rod McPherson told him to put up or shut up after kicking 100 for the shepp 2's in 93 he then got serious and became a pretty good player for the Bears...at senior level and was selected in 97 & 98 GVL interleague squads...ANYTHING ELSE you wanted to know about him...DILL.

the bush legend was that cardas used to provide the commentary when he flew for marks in the forward line. just one of the many inspirations for strauchanie.

Sounds like the Dictator might be Cardas himself !!! Who else could talk about himself that much and know that much detail about someone if it wasn't the man himself!!!!! :)

Played against the man himself and was what i would call a pretty "honest" footballer. Haven't spoken to him for a while and am not sure if he would make a good coach or not....one thing is for sure from my opinion is that i think Shepp should go for someone from right outside the club and start afresh....only my opinion though...:thumbsu:

I'd love to ask him a bit more about his career (although you've given a pretty thorough run-down of his achievements). Does he post on here?

What a great thing this is..OPINIONS on ex footballers that played locally...Now I agree on the Shepp job...they need an outsider...THATS ENOUGH about cardas...even he wouldn't talk about himself this much :) He's a better commentator than footballer even he would agree with that...

No joke as most have already been there and done it.
JR coached Tat atleast one year '87 I think, and was COS for many years, Gus not sure if he coached the Seniors at Ky but coached the thirds to a flag.
Already been mentioned about Cardas coaching at Congupna, you could go on, Nippa Harvey at Euroa & Congupna. Stats has been just that at a handful of clubs in the region;)
As for Wes, well who knows what will happen at the swans next.

What about the mohair jumper cardas wore under his footy jumper.
But i will say he could actually play on his day.
Nice hands, strong body solid kick.

This is my first year in the GVFL and i have found the level of umpiring is disgusting. Has it always been this bad? Anyones thoughts?

Don't know about disgusting.
The biggest problem i find is consistancy between different umpires interpretations of rules.Week to week it changes.
As in every standard of football all players and spectators want is consistancy for all teams.
When decisions are not equal and consistant thats when everyone gets upset and things can appear "disgusting".:D
But to answer the question i don't think the umpiring across the league at the moment is to bad, maybe 8/10.
