Has put a clearance into Nullawil
Am guessing he won’t be required to train 3 nights a week, recovery on Sunday etc etc. Perfectly reasonable to ‘retire’ from GV footy to go and enjoy having a kick in a weaker competition without continuing to put his body through the wringer. It’s how clubs like nully survive.

What’s wrong with a couple seasons mentoring the young guys in the seconds at a GV club.

It’s not an attack on Sam but no one seems to travel that path

Those days are just about over. As I stated, district clubs with essentially no population to draw from, rely on paying ex major league players to stay alive.

On the flip side many major league clubs aren't developing their own and rely on getting ready made players out of district comps.

$$$$$$$$$$
it probably is , I'd suspect most senior GVFL players get enough dough during the year whether it be match payments , incentive based schemes to go toward paying for fuel and wage insurance if they get injured. I doubt many blokes in the twos would get paid and in this day and age where clubs don't tend to look after players as much when injured in regards to covering loss of wage, like in the old days, a player would be crazy not to take out loss of wage.
It is far to easy to blame the player and other league clubs and even suggest a salary cap is going to stop it.
The reality is if a player doesn't feel they are covered for wage loss ,if injured , they won't play.
Trying to stop this type of scenario via salary cap is only going to see a massive reduction in the amount of people who play the game.
Solution : Make better insurance mandatory.
All medical costs fully covered.
Loss of wages 100% covered.

I reckon Sammy's service to Rochy over many years (I think he missed a GF with a broken leg as a 16-17 yo) entitles him to a year or so getting decent $$ in a relatively easier competition. Who knows: probably playing with a couple of mates over at Nullawil. I hardly see Sammy as a mercenary. What a 'get' for Nullawil as I think they were thereabouts last year.

Just don't forget who won 2017 premiership.
I think you will find Sammy B is cousins with the president that is the connection to nully

On a current topic, how's everyone else's pre-seasons rolling along ?....who's killing it ? ...who's on struggle street ?
