Maybe that's why they'll go to bendigo, so they can keep recruiting gv players. When they won the gf they recruited guys from the ammos

I think a strong GV needs Moama in it as the Bendigo league is currently a circus. There are 700 kids in Moama Anglican College which divided by half is more than Rochy/Euroa or Tatura that doesn't have a High School.
I couldn't believe how big Tatura has become as a town when I went their last year after a 30 year gap. And the ground itself with facilities. Wow.
Moama need to follow the Echuca model and get a Walker-like coach out of AFL and make it a place kids want to be. No zoning so Echuca kids can play there also.
And then watch out.
Or they stay where they are in the Murray .
I’m hearing that a major factor in the effort to get them to move is due to Murray League having a fall out with AFL Vic. / AFLGM which is not an unprecedented approach .

They did try that with Todd viney, nearly ripped the heart out of the place and took a long time for Moama to recover
Deni no further than Shepp and it’s only once , Finley - Euroa , Mulwala - Seymou and then there is Benalla and Mansfield .
It’s unlikely to assist with any recruiting or retaining of players based on reduced travel. They would get an advantage by being the most north / western club so closer for players in the Deni , Mathoura , Moulmein areas . Which is already a very competitive market as there are no players further north and any players coming from any other direction has numerous closer clubs Z
The general consensus between posters is that Echuca-moama is a big enough town to support 2 gvfl teams. This means moama would not be relying on recruiting from towns such as Moulmein. There is enough depth of talent in the area already to draw upon.
If I’ve looked up correctly Moama seniors have made finals 3 times since 2010 .
2015 , 2017 and 2024
Thats the assumption , but it’s far from proven . Yes Echuca are strong but the other two teams in the two towns aren’t at senior level .
2024 is seemingly the only year Moana have played finals in 7 years ( which admittedly includes the covid non year included ) and they weren’t going to play finals in the year finals were stopped .
The 2024 side was strongly influenced by Kyabram recruits whilst ringo1 could confirm , but I don’t believe the recent Echuca dynasty has had a major influence of players who have transferred from Moama as mature ( non junior ) players .
What is far from proven? The fact that Echuca-Moama has a big enough population for 2 GV teams?
This is not about current on field performances and no one except you has tried to say it is. No one is saying currently moama are up to the standard but it is a view that if admitted into the GV they would be soon enough.
You do this a lot where you change the argument as you go.

I was thinking if they moved to bendigo it would easier to retain players and recruit from the gv still
there is nothing to suggest they will be successful in the GvL in fact available evidence suggests completely the contrary . Population is not the sole determining factor for onfied success . Many border towns are becoming retirement destinations despite overall population growth clubs in and within 50 klms who drag from those towns are often seeing player shortage .
There is more to Echuca’s recent success than just population growth .

Moama used to have good juniors, like the aggs, Rankins, eddy etc, but do many now go across and play for Echuca, I don't recall as many in the pioneers as the late 90s early 2000s. I also noticed hardly any kids from the hdfl or lvfl now in the squad, I'd say the better kids are now funnelled into the bigger clubs earlier.
Don't lots of people live in Moama and work in Echuca?
Yarrawonga are similar size to Moama and do okay in the ovens and murray, I'd suggest that's more a retirement place than Moama.
In saying that the Murray league is still a good league, the jump for them to go into the gv or Bendigo isn't that big anymore
The Bendigo League is a mess. Losing Maryborough and Kyneton is a huge blow and there could be more to follow. Gisborne will be chased by the Ballarat league, K Flat are in a cycle of hurt, Castlemaine are having a crack but it needs to be sustainable.The bemusing introduction of Broadford hasn't helped. I would like to know who is going to recruit 90 players, three coaches, support crew and a committee by November this year. If Moama head down that track they could be playing in a very compromised competition.
I think the shepp based teams have proven that great juniors doesn’t automatically transfer to senior success whilst and the rebuild is long under the points system .
Yarrawonga have in recent past struggled for junior numbers , their recruitment for junior numbers this year had been aggressive and wide spread , whilstI’m unaware of players joining Moana and coincidentally obtaining land in the most popular estate .
