Shepp d Eoroa in a big blow to Euroa's finals chances although the door is still open if they beat Mansfield next week in a virtual elimination final. Benalla continued its good late season form to defeat Echuca who are just clinging to 6th spot. Seymour belted Tatura-Saad with 9, Mooroopna by a few goals over Kyabram and Rochy defeated Mansfield. Re: Official GVFL Thread (part 2)

By those results, Swans 9 goals 6 points to nothing in the last to get up by 20pts

Re: Official GVFL Thread (part 2)

Good to have it on the radio-good stuff. Head did big Smithy drop a couple up north a couple of weeks ago?
Some good games this weekend and will be played in the wet. Echuca V Benalla is going to determine the finals aspirations of Echuca and Mooroopna V Ky will be interesting although I think the cats will win comfortably.
Things went as well as they could for the idiot. Leeton have resigned him then he finally got caught doing what he does, umpires didn't want to go to the trib so they offered him 2 weeks.

Can't find the other two on the Shepp News website

Super Swans come back from dead
Ashleigh Williamson

Shepparton Swans committed the proverbial highway robbery to steal victory from cross-town rival Shepparton United by 20 points at Princess Park yesterday.
United seemingly had the Swans dead in the water, 40 points up at the final change, but Peter White's side produced a barnstorming nine-goal-to-nothing last quarter in arguably its best win of the year, 12.19 (91) to 11.5 (71).

```Whitey' (Swans coach Peter White) thought we were still a chance at three-quarter-time if we played the way he had asked us to the first three quarters,'' Swan Mat Hebbard said.
``We kicked the first couple to get a bit of a run-on and we started to believe we were in it.
``We played 30 minutes of good footy and got up, but we won't get away with that against the better sides come finals.''
White sprung an early surprise by starting his best defender Lochlan Veale deep forward on Chris Schirmer.
United's Joe Perkovic got the job running with Darwin import Jarred Ilett in the midfield, Perkovic kicking the opening goal of the match.
Matt Forys kicked consecutive goals and Dwain Vidler bagged another to give United an early 19-point lead before Kane Uebergang snapped truly to get the Swans' first goal of the game.
A magic look-away handball in traffic by Forys allowed Scott Riordan to run into an open goal as United led by 21 points at the first break.
United captain Tyson Sidebottom imposed his class on the game with consecutive goals in the second _ the first a sublime goal on the run on the boundary with his non-preferred left-foot.
Defender Sean Tenace badly strained his hamstring and would not return for United, while a late goal from Murray Bushranger Jesse Finnen cut the Swans' deficit to 28 points by the half.
They could have easily been in front had it not been for kicking a wasteful 2.11.
United won a scrappy third term 3.2 to 1.2 and extended its margin to 40 points by the final change and looked every bit the winner.
Kicking with a strong breeze towards the southern end of the ground, the Swans kicked five goals in 20 minutes to come roaring back within seven points.
When Ilett snapped truly at the 25-minute mark, the Swans hit the front and rain began to pour for the first time all afternoon.
United threw the game away after that with undisciplined play resulting in 50m penalties and easy goals to Finnen and captain Brett Warburton.
Hebbard dribbled through a goal late to complete a 10-goal turnaround by the Swans.
Lucas White worked hard in the midfield, Hayden Best set up a lot from half-back and Darwin recruit Iggy Vallejo gave away little deep in defence.
United coach Brad Hazelman led the way for his side with a superb job keeping Swans leading goal-kicker Glenn Dundovic goal-less, Phil Carroll was ever-reliable on the last line of defence and Jye Warren was lively on a wing.
Seymour has ruined plans to celebrate Jarrod Pollard's 150th Goulburn Valley senior game for Tatura by recording a clinical 134-point win at Kings Park on Saturday.
Saad Saad kicked nine goals to take his season tally to 78 as Seymour registered 11 individual goal-kickers to romp home, 29.16 (190) to 8.8 (56).
Tatura ensured Seymour didn't have it all its own way by taking it up to the three-time reigning premier in the first quarter.
Brenden Keast found plenty of ball in the midfield and Jeremy Kleindienst provided a strong target at full-forward as Tatura worked hard to trail by just 15 points at quarter-time.
Seymour gained control in the second with 7.5 to 2.1, as the usual suspects such as Brendan Liddell and Paul Scanlon in the midfield and Brent Colbert off half-back asserted their authority.
It was all one-way traffic in the second half as Seymour rammed home 19 goals to four to remain a game behind Mooroopna in second spot on the ladder.
Saad's haul made him the dominant goal-kicker on the ground, with plenty of support from Dom Russo (four goals) and Liddell (five).
Kleindienst kicked a season-best four goals and Pollard kicked two in his milestone game.
Matt O'Keefe kicked a goal and racked up countless possessions in a best afield display, while Liddell, Saad and Scanlon were also stand-outs.
Tatura's best were Keast, Joe Kelly and Murray Bushranger Tom Durward.
Tigers too tough for Eagles
Roger Oldridge
Rochester coach Daniel Schmidt has labelled Saturday's gutsy away win over Mansfield as a crucial step toward his side's impending finals campaign.
The Tigers proved too good for the Eagles, with a 22-point victory in their Goulburn Valley Football League clash.
``It's the first time we've been over there for a few years and I reckon that's the hardest away game in the competition,'' Schmidt said.
``Every week from now on we'll be trying to really build some momentum, so come the first final we are absolutely humming.''
Still sidelined with a knee injury, the Tigers' coach watched from the bench as Mansfield outplayed his charges in the first term.
The Eagles kicked two goals eight in the opening stanza, but having failed to capitalise on early opportunities, surrendered the lead in the second quarter.
Mansfield defender Matt Trewhella said his side could live to rue its missed chances, if it falls short of finals action for the first time since 2002.
``I think we were all over them in terms of pressure, but just couldn't get the job done in front of goals and in the end it really cost us,'' Trewhella said.
``In terms of playing finals, it comes down to us winning and Echuca losing, which means our destiny is not entirely in our own hands.''
Dean Moon led the charge through the midfield for Rochester with one of his best performances of the season, as the usual suspects of he, Ben Deuscher and Dylan Cuttriss played their part.
Schmidt was keen to shine the spotlight away from his stars.
``Guys like Jake Perry and Nathan Whipp, who haven't been playing overly well, really stood up for us,'' he said.
Rochester took the unusual step of travelling the night before the game in a bid to overcome any lethargy from the 2 hour drive.
The loss was the Eagles' second at home this season, with Trewhella believing the long trip to Mansfield now holds few fears for visiting sides.
``I think over the last few years opposition teams have got used to the road trip,'' Trewhella said.
``We've lost a few easy ones at home and that builds confidence in other teams.
``I still think we have a home ground advantage, but I don't think other teams are that scared anymore.''
Saints are still in with a chance
Ashleigh Williamson
Benalla continued its late-season resurgence with a three-goal win against Echuca at Victoria Park on Saturday _ its sixth win in its past eight games.
The 18.10 (118) to 15.10 (100) victory leaves it with a slim chance of making the Goulburn Valley Football League finals with three rounds left.
The Saints are in ninth (6-9) spot, but just one game out of the top six after starting the season with seven straight losses.
``We haven't thought too much about finals all year after we started 0-7,'' Benalla coach Tim Symes said.
``We've got a tough few weeks coming up to finish off, so we'll just try to keep playing good football.''
Veteran forward Brad Smith looked dangerous early as Echuca began best to lead by two goals at quarter-time.
Midfielders Rowan Priest, Richard Bull and James Rockliff pioneered Benalla's fightback in the second as it seized the ascendancy with 6.1 to 2.2 to lead by 10 points at half-time.
Benalla extended its lead to 13 points by the final change and looked like running away with the match when it moved five goals ahead early in the last term.
Echuca fought back to kick six goals for the quarter, but Benalla answered with 6.5 of its own to take the points in Brendan Stevens' 150th game.
``We had five changes to the side from last week, the four Bushies kids and our vice-captain Andy Polwarth, so we had some new faces in there,'' Symes said.
``We got an even spread from everyone and the guys that came in played their roles.''
Benalla full-forward Ricky Symes led all goal-scorers with six, Stevens kicked three, while Priest starred in the midfield and Ben Fahey was reliable at full-back.
Brad Smith finished with five goals for Echuca and was among its best players along with defender Brendan Prendergast and young ruckman Clayton Zanella.
Guy Campbell played his first game since having a hernia operation on his groin but had little impact for the Murray Bombers.
As much as it pains me to say this the Lions injury list is mounting ( no i will not name them find out for yourselves ) and come finals they may play a major part, Saad has allways been a year to year proposition next year will look after itselfe.
Lions are certainties for the flag now. Put your house on it!! Hitting form at the right time of the year and Saad is firing on all cylinders. Get ready for the highlights package in the finals series!
Re: Official GVFL Thread (part 2)
