What are people's thoughts on the Rochester v Tat game this weekend? Are they both at full strength?

Can't believe there has not been more discussion about it.

Massive game tomorrow - Rochy v Tat, expect a late change for Rochy (a key person wont be playing)

The win yesterday by Rochy means they should finish second. I think quite a few people have fallen off Rochy, Mooroopna and United as serious challenges to Tat but I know Chopper White did plenty of work in making sure they won certain areas around the ground and the game plan worked to get the win. Also with a couple out should get better.
Still think into finals its anyone in the top 4.

Eagle was on a good quid up here, but the problem was consistent employment for him, in the ever inconsistency of the Gold Coast economy.

Have heard eagle is likely to play for southern districts up here again in the summer. If he does expect nt thunder to make a play for him; won't be able to offer him the same coin, but would have no issues getting him work & will potentially be going for a three-peat.

Assume highest placed team wins each game

week 1
1 v 2
3 v 6 (Elimination)
4 v 5 (Elimination)

week 2
1 v 3 (Into GF)
2 v 4 (Elimination)

Week 3
3 v 2 (Prelim)

Week 4 (Grand Final)
1 v 2

So 1st or 3rd is the best to finish? Seems a little unfair for 2nd place.
why dont they just got 1v4 2v5 3v6 the first week?

What brings you to the conclusion that 1st and 3rd are better than 2nd? There is actually no difference to finishing 1st or 2nd as they play each other and have exactly the same chance to progress and both get the double chance in the first week, 3rd on the other hand get a much easier game(in theory) first up to go into a 2nd semi, but the big downfall is if you lose that first game your season is finished.

Whatever the system is, 1st and 2nd should have the chance to play each other in the 2nd semi(which is not the case at the moment), whether that is as you've stated above and the two highest ranked winners go through to the 2nd semi and the lowest ranked winner and highest ranked loser go into the first semi, or another option is 1v4 and 2v3 play off for a spot in the 2nd semi and the highest ranked loser plays the winner of 5v6 in a first semi. The only downside of these two systems is that 2nd isnt guaranteed a double chance because in the unlikey event of 1 & 2 getting beaten in the first week, 2nd would be eliminated, might happen once every 20 years, so reckon either one of those systems is better than what is used at the moment.

You just answered my question in that there is a better system than the present. 1 and 2 shouldn't play off till the GF if all played out to plan.

Not sure what system you have that allows the best two sides to face off not until the Grand Final. Every good final 4, 5 & 6 system has the best two sides face off in the 2nd Semi final. Final 8 is the only system that allows for the top sides to stay away from each other until the Grand Final and a final 8 should never be used in a 12 team comp, if anything the GV should go back to a Final 5, by far the best system and should be used in all leagues that have up to 13 sides IMO.

Final 5 works well, 1 has the week off and 2 & 3 play each other & 4 & 5 play off in elimination.
