Have heard Brett Henderson has made contact with Tatura about coaching next season, would be bloody sad to see him take over Tatura and destroy another star studded side like he did at Echuca
That's the problem with 'star studded' sides, too many egos and not enough team players. Curious comment as Hendo was a successful thirds coach at Echuca before getting senior job. Perhaps there are too many rusted on people at Echuca who aren't prepared to think outside the bubble.

Hasn't the Williamstown thing worked out? Last time I was down there he was on the bench working in with German and the cochces upstairs. Wouldn't be a bad gig to be involved at VFL level. Agree with Woody, how often do such "star studded" lists cause their own demise thru ego's, selfish attitudes, jealousy etc. I dont care how good you are, or how your footy resume reads 'coz if you're either selfish, lazy or wont play to instruction then in my opinion you can only be a distraction in any "team first" environment.

from my understanding williamstown is going very well - its the work/life balance that is paramount. and could not agree more about star studded line ups, coupled with antiquated committee's that cause a clubs demise

Isn't the coach largely responsible for recruiting these star studded line ups. If you are willing to recruit these guys you have to be prepared to put up with egos and attitudes that come with there ability. Good coaches are able to do this.

That is assuming the coach recruited everyone... and provided the so called unwaivering support of the committee remained, anyway enough of the past lets move on to this weekend..

Any selection news from anywhere, any surprises or shock inclusions?

The word coming out of Rochester is that they have gone down the same track as Collingwood and imposed a drinking ban until the end of the season? Apparently Brain has been involved in three alcohol fuelled incidents in the local pubs over at Rochy this year and now all the players have to conform to the new policy.

Thats all fine and dandy if its adhered too and what happens when someone breaks it? Someone might want to tell Brainy though; he was still drinking after the game on Saturday following the draw with Kyabram. The leadership group should have a word in his ear so that their season does not unravel because he cannot follow team rules. Brain has apparently had about clubs in as many years maybe this is the reason? 8 for 8 possible?

Very close to the mark !!

Watched the the Swans Vs Tatura last game last week and was very impressed by them; like all young teams, it is a roller coaster ride, however, I think if they get 2-3 mature heads in there with big bodies (CHB, CHF, RR) they will be a team to be reckoned with... Finnen, Tinkler, Haysom all fantastic runners of the ball given them drive on a number of occasions, just don't think they are far off

Watched the Tatura and Rochester game today, Rochester were a disgrace! And I have believed this for a long time Guy Campbell would have to be the most OVERATED player in Australia...

the whole Rochester team was stinking it up today so probably not a game you can be a harsh marker on. How was he when they defeated Tat at Rochy? Tat looked the premiers today but I don't think Rochester would play any worse than that. The one thing I can be critical of is how long Peter White took to move players when being beaten.

Talk about the wrong year to finish second though. played a rampant Tatura at Tatura and now front up to Seymour at Seymour. I know its all done at start of the year on allocation but couldnt imagine it any worse. Win next week and probably play United at Deakin. So much for finishing 2nd and getting some favours.

Last point 98.1 is a disgrace. Mentioned at least 3 times Sam Obrien had left the ground and gone back to Perth. Try left the ground with a Rochester official and taken to get scans and clearance to fly at GV hospital. I think the innuendo sucks and you need to apologise next week on radio as were making a mountain out of this trying to make a story that Sam had walked out. You clowns need to get it right. Big turn around required by Rochy next week and if Tat play like that again next week will roll into Granny with 10 goals plus wins.

Heard the following but not confirmed...

Rochy v Seymour at Seymour Saturday
Tatura v Shep United at Deakin Sunday

I guess that is why you were watching not playing - you quite obviously don't understand the game, nor have the insight to medical knowledge regarding any players current condition. Even to the untrained eye it was obvious Guy was playing injured.

After watching the Rochy v TAT game it became very obvious that TAT played and beleived in there structures a lot more than Rochy did. Every contest as the ball came out there was a TAT player on the outside um-marked, this created multiple opportunities for TAT and they duly converted. They are an impressive outfit who are playing amazing footy at present. However a week is a long time in footy as everyone knows so hopefully Rochy can bounce back next week.

PS - the TAT ground was simply in AMAZING condition, a credit to all concerned.

Yes a bit

Tat v United is at Kyabram. the fixtures/results page is now updated on the sporting pulse GVFL website.

It was noticeable, but why not share more of the workload and play him at FF and Bowen at CHF? Even when Tat got well on top Campbell was moved to CHB, toughest position on the field....he is a great player and has represented the GVFL and VCFL well over the past few years. Not fair for the earlier post to say he his the most overrated player in Australia....

Agreed completely - should have payed a 2 prong full forward line with plenty of space to lead into - loaded up an extra in the midfield (would have also helped defensively which was desperately needed) Dan Mclinden also had a shocker (actually most of the Rochy team did) which exposed Rochy down back - however the ball was more often won in the midfield, god only knows what the clearances were, scoring shots were an accurate reflection of the dominance.

Was it a lack of confidence in structure or an unwillingness to play one on one until a side broke? Rochester dominated the first fifteen minutes and then, when the momentum ceased, Tatura players seemed to receive and carry the ball with little pressure. Can't fault Tatura's performance but Rochester aren't that bad surely.

Can I suggest that unless you know the whole story you refrain from going off half cocked .
It has been publicized often that Henderson wasn't responsible for recruiting and often when players where signed the recruiting manager was credited .
Not going to blow wind up his arse , but the higher the standard he goes the more successful IMO he will be , as he is an extremely intense / full on coach which at times rubs people who aren't that intense , up the wrong way .
And toxic with that av , you need to post more often .

can anyone help me out the Border Mail doesnt give the GV any coverage at all, how is Seymour travelling and in particular Brendan Liddell, he had a couple of good years at Wang and looks to have gone back home with the Lions certainly on the improve

Matthew Hay, young centre half back of Echuca has had a great year, maybe some clubs are in need of young centre half back for many years to come. He will be a serious pick up for any clubs in 2013, look out for him!
