Great game

The mistake is believing that it's only the decisions at the end which matter.

Yeah all the decisions matter. The ones at the end are the most crucial. Some decisions and luck early in matches can become 'washed over'.

It's sad but just about every close game this year you can identify an umpiring decision in the last 2 or 3 minutes which could have changed the result of the game.

You're 100% right.
At least you agree.
If you wholeheartedly believe that, then more power to you.
Of course I believe it. It's the reason I posted it.

It's not a mistake though. One umpire allowed the advantage to Pendlebury and his goal to stand. Another umpire did not, and that should not have happened because if a decision has been made by one of the umpires, then that should be the end of it. Particularly when it involves a goal. It was a clear play on advantage from a free kick under the new rules, and no other single incident in the match had as much direct bearing on the result.

Hopefully Geelong can take on the mantle as Premiership favorites. I'm not sure I trust our side to be frontrunners. I think they do better as underdogs.

Bottom line is regarding the Pendlebury goal, they were by far the better side and deserved a far greater margin of victory. It would have been nice to snatch the win, but we sure as hell didn't deserve it.

We've better going along far too often this season playing a quarter or two of football, this loss is necessary to hopefully get us back to playing four quarters like we did the second half of last season.

Full credits to the Cats by the way, exploited the umpires and won the game, at the end of the day winning is all that matters.

All in all Geelong were clearly the best side on the night however I'd expect at least the same result as last years prelim final when we come up against them next time.

Far out a few of you lot really are behaving like sore pathetic ####wits. Fair enough I would expect the Pies to improve on that but simply assuming you will be 75 up on us in the 3rd quarter of the prelim again this year is downright ignorant and stupid but good luck with it.

It was pretty impressive. The Cats are clearly our closest challenger, no other team could get within 5 goals when we're playing at about 70% of our capacity, it'll be interesting to see how close they can get once we ramp up to our best side and footy in the finals, I didn't see much to suggest they'd close the margin from last years prelim.

I was there and though it was a horrible game to watch. Was boring as hell! The skills where crap and just seemed like kick to kick.

It didnt really effect the result as geelong deserved to win but the umpires made a few questionable calls pendelbury one was really stupid.

Good for collingwood really i think they need a wake up call.

anyone know the verdict of toovey and ling>!

Nah, it had to be brought back, i only watched on the tube but there were whistles going off everywhere, lots of players stopped, the ump has to make a split second decision now days and he chose to bring it back, end of story IMO.

Cats were to good, the scoreline flattered us in the end, we aren't playing well, the loss will do us the world of good, but remember this KS, they awoke the sleeping giant and they will pay the price!!, if we played a our shadow 2010 premiership team last night we would've been flogged by 15 goals IMO.

Remember, if pendles had of missed it wouldve been brought back as well, if he did miss we wouldn't even be talking about it, or, we would be saying how it shouldn't have been advantage.

Terrible umpiring. There was a severe lack of consistency all game.

The only part of the game that was enjoyable was the scoring being close.

No its geinuinely a good tactic, I wish our players would dive and buckle more often.

Collingwood supporters are such a whinging pack of arseholes!

I'm sick of reading this crap. All teams have players who occasionally try & milk a free. Trying to make out that Geelong are soft & just dive is bullshit.

Selwood, Chapman & Bartel are ALL harder than ANYONE for Collingwood.

81

Laughable pointing the finger at Pies fans for whinging...all clubs have them, and theres been only 2 in this thread, against 25 telling us how much Collingwood fans whinge

It was 81, btw

I just want to point out Didaks form in this game. omfg what has happened to this guy. every. single. thing. he did turned to crap.. he should almost be given a running back role or stuck in the forward pocket role to get some form back. collingwood look a lot more dangerous when he is in form.

Having said that i'm more than happy for him to remain in his slump... at least until the saints have played them

To be fair he is coming back from a torn pectoral muscle - but even so he appears even more hesitant than usual when confronted and his skills are WAY down on what he can produce. Useless dropping him to the magoos - they are just a bunch of kids this year and getting some honest towelings, hard to pick up form in that situation. He firstly needs to get the run back into his game, that has almost dried up but mostly I think Mick needs to get into his head which doesn't appear to be in the right place.
