I guess the good thing is noone is making you use their bats so you won't have to use another one.

Yep but I was disappointed as really wanted to support local and an iconic brand. Will have to try another local bat brand next.

That's fair enough .
You can get some lemons with any brand. Ive never had a really good GN but had teamates who wouldn't use anything else .

My best ever bat didnt look the best , crooked but tight grains and a bit blemished ( Younis Khan knocked it back ) Had perfect looking ones that were only OK.

It can be a raffle unfortunately .

Fair point, the nature of working with natural products like English willow 🤪

Adelaide Oval. 1932/33 Bodyline Test

Wonder if you could sneak a couple of long necks in......

This isn't a "great image" as such, but I came across it on FB where the page was asking for names to be put on it, I thought I would run it past the old-timers here.

B&W and colourized versions appear below.

Gilmour (2nd), possibly Bruce Francis (1st), possibly Taber (keeper). If Gilmour/Francis are in the pic, it's NSW in either 71/72 or 72/73. It can't be England 72, as Francis/Taber went but Gilmour didn't.

Batsman looks a bit like Chappelli, but, if so, as it would be a state match, I'm not sure that's the right colour for a SA cap back then.

South Australia did wear blue caps, I'm not sure when they changed to red but that sounds something that would have happened for colour television so your time frame is probably right.

‘Yagga’ hit a century this test. Incredibly underappreciated player
Leading the rebel side has overshadowed everything, they named the pavilion at Sabina Park after him in 2011 only for it to be revoked a month or so later because of the uproar.

Yep it’s only now I’m noticing on some fan pages on social media etc that sentiment is turning back towards him - and others - and starting to let it go

I was talking to my mate's niece at the cricket about rebel tours and Apartheid more generally in the 1980s and that period barely registers with her generation. Maybe if they paid a bit more attention we wouldn't have an Apartheid nepo kid trying to impose his will on the world.
