Grimes broken down again

Going to go out on a limb here. With no inside info at all. Optimus as part of his rehab & ongoing care has been told to report anything irregular concerning his strings. He felt something and the scans are precautionary. Finges crossed, best case scenario :thumbsu:

Well they're not going to say he's finished are they? They'll play down the injury because it's pre-season, so i doubt we'll know the full extent of it.

Seems to me he had been let off the leash to go FULL BORE way too soon

Burge has to take some blame here imo .

Easy to spot with hindsight but hes gettn paid the big bucks to get these things right .

This was one of the reasons why I wanted Kristian Jaksch in the national draft at 9. Before the draft I posted in here that we needed a big KPP at 9 because Grimes had serious hamstring problems and Griffiths had shoulder concerns, just to name two areas of concern. It took less than a week for these problems to start to take place. The only good thing is that the likes of Kristian Jaksch and Jono O'Rourke and Dominic Tyson are all at GWS and in time we will get them all back to Richmond anyway- one way or another.

I think that's tough. he had the op how many months ago? He would have been running for some time, and doing some drills. You have to find out if the hammy is any good. If you trust Der German Doktor, they are probably using his recommendations.

It may be (as some have said) his hammies are made of tissue paper.

Im a more glass half full person

Dont get me wrong i would love to see Grimes fit and ready round one.
I think he has potential to be All Australian and its no secret that when hes not down back
we win less games. Im sure i will be proven wrong.

However if anything this could be the opportunity Kamdyn Mctintosh needs would love to see him given
the chance to play some early games. New nothing about him pre draft but the kid looks the goods.

They are basically the same height, same build and have an eerily similar kicking action. Didn't know anything about him pre-draft but from the highlights package I think we have ourselves a player.
Mate of mine who is a mad eagles fan (lives in Perth) told me that the Eagles were shattered not to nab him.

Surely Astbury would get a look in before McIntosh?

The thing that distinguishes Grimes and Astbury is that Grimes is an extremely attacking defender, he is able to set up play by being a loose man and using his disposal extremely effectively.
Astbury can't do that from what we've seen thus far.
In saying this, you're probably right.
Would change our structure a hell of a lot though IMO.

Exactly. Burge was the fitness guy at the hawks for years and they suffered a really bad run of soft tissue injuries under him. I've had a nagging bad feeling about him since he was employed to the club and this doesn't alleviate those concerns at all. You better not be the effin cause of this Burge!

Not a good start for new fitness coach... Wasent the new facilities ment to prevent Injury's during training?

Think he hurt it by running on crappy turf rather than punt road turf

1) they are designed to minimize the risk of injury, not prevent it. It's a spo where injury elimination is not realistic or even possible, so setting that as a benchmark for success is nuts.

2) do we know how the hammy was done? Big difference between it happening in an overloaded session and just a random thing (remember Foley did his ankle again after a light jog this year). Before y start allocating blame, maybe a few facts would be handy.

3) also do we know the extent of the tear? No scan has been done, so if you have access to this info, please call the club and save them some money. The club micro manages player data to see how their bodies are healing, and if there is any factors showing a potential injury risk (Matt went through this at C80 this year). Given Grimes history, very likely he would have been monitored more than most. Under this situation, we could have anything from a tear to a strain, so let's not freak out yet.
