Grimes broken down again

Exactly. Burge was the fitness guy at the hawks for years and they suffered a really bad run of soft tissue injuries under him. I've had a nagging bad feeling about him since he was employed to the club and this doesn't alleviate those concerns at all. You better not be the effin cause of this Burge!

I don't think Burge headed up their fitness when he was at the Hawks ElR (not 100% sure though).Anyone else care to clarify ??

1) they are designed to minimize the risk of injury, not prevent it. It's a spo where injury elimination is not realistic or even possible, so setting that as a benchmark for success is nuts.

2) do we know how the hammy was done? Big difference between it happening in an overloaded session and just a random thing (remember Foley did his ankle again after a light jog this year). Before y start allocating blame, maybe a few facts would be handy.

3) also do we know the extent of the tear? No scan has been done, so if you have access to this info, please call the club and save them some money. The club micro manages player data to see how their bodies are healing, and if there is any factors showing a potential injury risk (Matt went through this at C80 this year). Given Grimes history, very likely he would have been monitored more than most. Under this situation, we could have anything from a tear to a strain, so let's not freak out yet.

Just to add to ur comment rfctiger74, didn't Coggs redo his knee injury while at home in the shower or some such innocuous situation ??

Since when do ya need facts to form an opinion on here:confused:

Fact is you can never b sure what the facts r unless ya on the inside.

Media releases on issues r often a mix of bullshit, coverups with a few facts thrown in.

Ive based my opinion on a gut feel from bits and pieces ive heard seen and read.

Pull ya finger out Burge im on to ya:mad:

From the HUN:
Grimes, 21, had been tearing up the pre-season before Friday's setback.
Make of that what you want!

I will put in my 20c worth of optimism.....
"Grimes strained his troubled left hamstring at training on Friday and will have scans tomorrow to assess its severity."
That word leaves a lot of scope for it to be very minor. At least is not being being reported as a tear.
Apart from being a massive loss for the team, I hope for Dylan's sake that it's not too serious and doesn't keep him of the track for too long. Poor Kid - Must be frustrating as hell, knowing at full strength you have the potential but constantly being let down by your body.

Hmm the story I heard with cogs was.. lets just say there was someone else in the shower with him at the time of injury and no amount of hot water and soap could clean the dirtiness going on in there ;)

I'm with you Mr Rambo. :thumbsu: Normally I'd say a person isn't entitled to an opinion unless it is backed by evidence or reasoned arguments. But I find your clever use of emoticons to be equally convincing. ;)

Where does the lynchin' line start? Lets get this sucker Burge.

All these conflicting reports are driving me INSANE!
Surely, it shouldn't take 2 days + for scans to be assessed?
Hopefully we hear first hand information by the club later today.

I'll wait to hear the announcement but in any case, it's November. Better now than sometime in February/March, even if it's a tear he's got ample time to get back for the season proper.

As for some of the comments that the club/fitness staff were derelict in their duties somehow, FFS even if they only had the wherewithal/resources to micro-manage ONE players' hamstring don't you think it'd be Dylan 'expensive experimental german calf-blood surgery' Grimes. If anything they probably pulled him up earlier than they might have for another player. I don't think you can draw any conclusions about our new fitness staff on this one.

As for long term concerns, I'm not overly concerned. His brother was starting to look like he'd never string more than a few games together, and he got up and played 21 games this season. He's 2 years older than Dylan.

the longer this goes with no news from the club, I'm fearing it's bad news.

It happened on Friday arvo. It doesn't take this long to get results from scans.

What sort of injuries did Jack Grimes suffer from?
