Got a chance to watch the replay today after listening to the game. I really like what I am seeing in Grimes, he is competitive and composed. I don't know if its just me but when Mcguan and Rance have the ball its heart in your mouth, but this guy is very composed for a kid that has played only a few games of seniors.
If he can play the whole year we may have a beauty we picked up in the rookie draft that was supposed to have a question mark over his disposal.

I agree. Didn't rate him before the other day but gee he was like a general down there directing players when to come back and got to alot of contests that were not his own direct opponent.

To be fair to Rance his field kicking is quite good it's his decision making sometimes under pressure that hurts.

Did a great job of peeling off his man to affect the spoil on a contest to help out his mate. Had the most spoils ever in an AFL game in his second game against Hawthorn. Like the boy. Hopefully he can chunk up a bit

Rance is good where he can take a strong mark then dish a handball off to a runner.

Dylan seems to have the same composure of his brother. Just need to get games into him, and hopefully a bigger body over next few pre-seasons.

I reckon he may be our answer to a defender who can play on smalls. He did a very good job on Lindsay Thomas. He is also quick for his size.

He does look good when he peels off as he makes very effective spoils. He did cost 1 goal however when he jumped into a marking contest and took out Rance, missed the ball and Petrie kicked an easy goal of the ground.... but he's young and he definitely seems to be improving.

yeah I too like what i see, has composure when deep in the last line, is a good spoiler and can use the pill effectively. As he grows in confidence Im certain he will take more grabs as he has good hands...MUST be persevered with , once he addds some more weight to the frame he will be a permanent fixture at FB

Is there anywhere on the net that a bloke can get this replay?

wasnt it the preseaason draft?

very impressed, and the best part is there is so much improvement left in him. reminds me of James Frawley when he came in, and look at him now, he got the monster body and that mixture of his original speed which gives him the strength and balance to beat almost any forward in the league, he should try to model his game on Chips i reckon

no he has all the attributes to be a fb. patience getting up to size to properly perform this role may take 3 seasons.

i liked the look of him playing on a small, as he has the size advantage to go with them, as well as the speed which may make him an exceptional defender against these times until he gets the size up.

Would love to see him get the job on Reardon this week.

Very good kid, was stoked to get him in the PSD when he wasn't drafted straight up.

IMO our recruiting has imroved out of sight in the last two years, i have total faith in the decisions our recruiters are making now:thumbsu:

Those spoils make some sense of this then. Saw it the other day and thought it must have been a mistake.

Thats right. Grimes, who has played in only his 3rd game this season and 4th game ever is 5th in the AFL for 1%ers.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a keeper. :D

IMO not yet shown enough to warrant the gagaisms going on on this forum.
Spoiling is good, spoiling and making things happen after the spoil is better.
Prefer to sit on the fence with this dude. If we are going to knock Thurst, then its a waste of time finding another Thurst, if you know what i mean.
Thurst made his name by following the coach's orders to the letter, spoil at every opportunity. Its the next step up that you look for. Grimes aint no better at that caper at the same point of his career as was Thurst. ;)
