Last time we suffered such a heavy defeat in round 1 was 2011, 75 points to Collingwood at Marvel. We went on to win 3 games for the year.

In 2000 we suffered a 94 point loss to open Vs Essendon, we then proceeded to go 1-10-1.

Im not sure 2025 will be that bad, we're probably still too good, to be that bad, but geez theres a mounting argument when you look at our side that our poor off-season and list management will catch up to us.

Tonight we basically replicated our last 3 MCG clashes V Collingwood.

2023 - 71 point loss
2024 - 71 point turnaround from early in 2nd qtr.
2025 - 91 points

A "Strong Football Program" we have says Kochie. Remember that, as those inside the club have continue to pat themselves on the back despite the trends in our results for a long time.

"We won't rebuild" says kochie. Instead we'll persevere with mediocrity by the looks.

Coming into tonight, I wanted to buy the rhetoric that we would play a faster, more attacking game style to take advantage of quick, talented forwards. Deep down, I knew it was flossy nonsense. This team has very little depth behind this 23. No-one’s coming in to shelter Georgiades from the game’s best defenders. No-one’s coming to help Aliir and Bergman. Rozee and JHF might look good, but the reality is they’ve regularly played in midfield maulings like tonight.

We’re every chance of having a 2011-12 season. And there will be no round 1 draft pick silver lining. Instead we’ll spend the next 6 years tearing our hair out over Lukosius’ softness.

Glad Kens had a couple nice little chats with McRae today. Nice to see the connection, footys a tough game and someone has to lose.

Also really enjoyed all the warm fuzzy cuddles pre game in the rooms. Fantastic connection. Amazing to see that connection translated on field to a bunch of guys all prepared to be just as soft as each other.
