Voting for the Catman Medal this season consists of a sim component and a posting component. The top five players by Dream Team points in each game were awarded votes with five votes for the highest Dream Team score and one vote for the fifth-highest Dream Team score. Votes for posting have been awarded to all players that have contributed in a match thread with one vote for posting at least once in a match thread, two votes for posting at least five times and three votes for posting at least 15 times.

All sim and posting votes are tallied up and the player with the highest number of votes will be awarded the Catman Medal.

Our season got underway at home with a heartbreaking one-point loss to Roys FFC. The Roys got off to a fast start kicking four goals in the first six minutes of the game to help set up a 14-point lead at quarter time. Roys' full forward, Mooch, kicked four second-quarter goals as the Roys extended their lead to 19 points at half time. okeydoke7 kicked three of our four goals in the third term as we held the Roys to one goal and took a two-point lead into the final change. The Roys kicked three goals to our two in the final quarter to take a one-point win. Jivlain was best on ground for us with 27 disposals and five tackles, Barrybran chipped in with 21 disposals and ten tackles and Dero collected 23 disposals. okeydoke7 lead the way up front with 4.7 while Rodney Dangerfield and debutante, BlueE, added three goals each.

Round 2 saw us travel to the Coliseum to take on the Wonders who entered coming off a 15-point loss to the reigning-premier Dragons in Round 1. The first quarter was a bit of a shootout as the Wonders kicked five goals to our four to take a 10-point lead into the first change. The Wonders kicked on in the second term with five goals and entered half time with a 24-point lead. We managed just a single behind in the third quarter as the lead blew out to 44-points before a shootout saw both teams combine for 13 goals in the final term and the Wonders running out 37-point winners. Barrybran lead the way with 26 disposals and nine tackles while okeydoke7 kicked five goals, GWS Goose pitched in with 23 disposals and six marks and MatthewB added 20 disposals, four marks and four tackles.

I'm not sure how many people have ever won a goalkicking award from the forward pocket but our man okeydoke7 has done just that, kicking 35 goals for the season and holding off Rodney Dangerfield to take out his second successive Ninty2Winty Golden Boot. This is okey's 12th leading goalkicker award during his time in Sweet FA, a season that saw him notch up 300 Sweet FA games and 800 Sweet FA goals. Congratulations okeydoke7!

The undefeated Swamprats came to the House of Gumby in Round 3 as we sought to put our first win on the board for season 29. Unfortunately the Swampies got off to a fast start kicking six goals straight in the first quarter to take a 15-point lead into quarter time. Inaccuracy hurt Sin City in the second quarter as they kicked 2.6 while we kicked four goals to close the gap to seven points heading into the main break. The Swamprats kicked away again early in the third quarter but three quick goals to StFly, Taylor and Jivlain tied things up briefly before the Swampies steadied to take a 14-point lead into the final quarter. A six-goal final term for the Swamprats, including three to Magus, sealed the deal as the Swamprats ran out 24-point winners to remain undefeated while we slumped to an 0-3 start. Taylor was best on ground for us as she collected 20 disposals, 11 tackles and two goals, GWS Goose picked up 26 disposals and six marks and Jivlain chipped in 25 disposals and a goal.

With no wins on the board from three games we travelled to Baghdad to take on the Bombers who were coming off a 7-point win over the Royals in Round 3. Goals to The Victorian and Taylor within the first six minutes gave us an early 13-point lead but the Bombers chipped away and took a 3-point lead into quarter time. The second quarter was a mirror image of the first as the Bombers extended their lead to 21 points however by half time their lead was just two. Both sides came out firing half time kicking 11 goals between them and we took a 1-point lead into the final break. We took a 12-point lead early in the fourth quarter but failed to score over the final 13 minutes as the Bombers pegged us back for a draw. We had five multiple goalscorers for the day, lead by The Victorian with three goals. Barrybran had 21 disposals, four tackles and two goals, Brick Loosener has 17 disposals, six marks and four tackles and haydo had 17 disposals, eight hitouts and two goals.

Before I acknowledge the rookies I would like to give a shoutout to Brick Loosener who is ineligible for this award having joined us in S27. Brick was fairly quiet during his first two and a half seasons with the club but the Covid outbreak saw him, like everyone else, with some spare time in front of the keyboard and no footy to talk about so he joined in the banter in our match threads. He's had a fantastic breakout season and I'm sure everyone has enjoyed what he has brought to the Gumbies in the back end of season 29.

The krisholio Rising Star award is awarded to the best first year poster at the Gumbies and is named after former Gumbies captain and premiership player, krisholio14. Season 29 saw the Gumbies blood six new posters into Sweet FA with varying degrees of activity and enthusiasm. TalkingFootyNow1223 put his stamp on the league early posting up a storm against the Roys in Round 1 before finding himself at the centre of some drama with the Bombers. Thankfully he decided to stick with us and after a break in the middle of the season he finished very strongly both on and off the field.

MatthewB and The Victorian joined from the Richmond and Gold Coast boards respectively and despite being named in the side for much of the season, failed to gain traction and were ultimately omitted. Hopefully we see both again in the future.

BlueE and bone2468 were recruited from the Fremantle board following the Big Footy Tour of Qooty game held there in the offseason. BlueE's love/hate relationship with the Crime board saw him in and out of the side but it was great to see him dip his toes in the water as the season progressed. The Boner joined us in Round 9 and jumped in both feet first, averaging a solid 15 posts per week.

Our krisholio Rising Star winner for season 29 joined us following the Tour of Qooty game on the Giants board that was effectively just him bantering against TedDougChris and I for an entire week. Like Ned Ryerson last season, Goose was a standout performer (and not because he was the only performer) for his willingness to get involved and genuine interest for what we had brought to the GWS board. After agreeing to join the Gumbies, GWS Goose pledged to see the club rise up from the bottom just like his beloved Giants had. We might have won the wooden spoon but thankfully that hasn't deterred Goose from sticking around. As the season progressed, GWS Goose became a popular member of the Gumbies and Sweet FA with his efforts being rewarded with a 3rd place finish in the EKA Medal for Sweet FA's best rookie poster for season 29.

It has been fantastic to have each and every one of you on board this season and I look forward to posting more with each of you in the coming seasons. Congratulations to all of you on a wonderful first season in Sweet FA.
